During the meeting there was a
good deal of discussion about
investments. A bequest from
Arthur Morgan of $1,057.16 was
received. This is to be invested. A
motion was passed that the
church exterior be painted this
year.
Rev. Carson reported that
there were 46 Sunday services
with an average attendance of 34.
There were 15 services of Holy
Communion with an average
attendance of 30 and 23
communicants. There were 13
services of Morning Prayer with
an average attendance of 34 and
18 services of Evening Prayer
with an average attendance of 39.
There were 5 weekday services
with an average attendance of 7.
There was one baptism, one
marriage and six burials, the
meeting concluded with a lunch
served by the ACW.
Next Sunday January 24 the
service of Evening Prayer will be
at 12:30. The Sunday School will
meet during the service.

held a successful euchre party in
the Parish Hall last Thursday
evening.
Prizes were won for men's high

Sunday, January 17 the
annual vestry meeting of Holy
Trinity Church was held after a
`pot luck' supper. Mrs. D. J.
'Henderson was elected vestry
clerk. The auditor's report was
presented by Mr. Larry Hotson
who suggested that the annual
meeting be held a week later. Total
receipts were $15,319.49 and
expenditures were $14,215.92.
Each of the church groups, ACW,
AYM, Guild, SS, choirs, and
couples had a balance in the
treasury.
The Rev. R. A. Carson
reported that there were services.
in the church on 47 Sundays with
an average attendance of 87.
There were 66 Sunday services of
which 27 were Holy Communion
services. In 1970 there were 10
children baptized, five youth
confirmed, three couples
married, and there were five
burial services.
The following officers were
appointed or elected: People's
warden, James Davis; rector's
warden, Don Ankers; lay
delegates, Harvey Hodgins,
Wilson Hodgins, Jack Murdy;

Clandeboye WI met at the
home of Mrs. Richard'
Worthington last Wednesday with
14 members in attendance.
Mrs. David Kestle reported on
the Farm Safety Council meeting
in London which she attended.
Mrs. Alex Macintosh gave a paper
on "Resolutions" and Mrs. Karl
O'Neil gave a reading on Edgar
Guest's writings.
Mrs. Harold Hardy and Miss
Carolyn Hardy were chosen
leaders for 4-H club I and Mrs.
George Hindmarsh and Mrs.
David Kestle for club 2 for the
up-coming project Sewing
Separates. Nancy Hardy will
represent Clandeboye 4-H clubs
at the Western Farm Show March
1 in London.
UNITED CHURCH
At the United Church at
Clandeboye Rev. W. C. Tupling
gave a sermon on "Is Pollution a
Moral Issue?"
He said that nature is good and
man is part of nature and it it
man's reponsibility to develop
the welfare not only of mankind
but of the whole creative world.
The organist was Arnold
Kilmer.
The congregational meeting
will be on Tuesday, January 26 at
8 p.m. at the Clandeboye church.

Class time changes finalized
at Grand Bend UC school

The UC Sunday School met
briefly after the morning session
Sunday a.m. to finalize some
changes in the new year schedule.
Beginning February 7 the
nursery, ages 3.5 and primary
children ages 5-8 will meet for
Sunday school at 11:15 the same
hour as church hoping to
encourage more children to
attend and also encourage the
parents to attend the church
service. The Jr. and intermediate
SS will meet at 10 a.m. for their
study period. The staff hope this
new approach will stimulate the
Christian education of the
church.
UCW UNITS MEET
The UCW afternoon unit met
Thursday January 14 in the
chiurch rooms. Mrs. Wm. Love,
president chaired the meeting.
This Worship was in charge of Mrs.
Alex Hamilton using as her theme
one of the women of the Bible
namely "Ruth."
The business period was
conducted by Mrs. Love. Sixteen
memthers answered the roll with
"A New Year's Thought."
A panel on -"Mission and
Service of the United Church
was enjoyed and a discussion
followed.
Hostess for the refreshments
following the meeting was Mrs.
Susie Des Tine.
EVENING UNIT MEETS
The evening unit met at the
home of Mrs. G. Kading in
Southcott Pines for the January
meeting Thursday evening
January 14.. Mrs. Jack Eagleson
was responsible for the worship
with the theme "A Listening
experience for you" the gift of
hearing! with background music.
Throughout this experience came
the words "Who Will Answer."
The worship service was very
meaningful.
The UCW Study for 1971 is
"The Americas." Mrs. Wm.
at the home of Dr. & Mrs. B.
Sanders.

visited on Monday with Mr. &

Mrs. Elsie Bestard returned to
Saskatoon last week after having
visited for several weeks with
relatives and friends.

over the weekend with their sons

Mr. Earl Finan has returned
home from Orillia where he has
been visiting Mr. & Mrs. Dennis
Finan and family.
Mr. Wallie Desjardine is a
patient in St. Joseph's hospital

Mrs. Harold Walper is a patient
in St. Joseph's hospital London.
Mr. Wm. Williams is a patient
in South Huron hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. Lloyd Fahner is confined
to her home due to an accident
while on vacation in the West.
Mrs. Agnes Smith left
Saturday for a month's visit to
Windsor and Toronto.
