The January meeting of
Calvary United Church Women
was held Tuesday, January 12,
with the president, Mrs. Don
Geiser opening the meeting. A
donation was made to the Bible
Society. The annual meeting will
be held January 18 with Mrs. R.
Weber's group in charge.
The executive was in charge of
the program with Mrs. Eben
Weigand as chairlady. She opened
with a short reading and also read
the scripture with Mrs. Syd Neeb
leading in prayer. Mrs. Gordon
Bender read two short poems.
Rev. Bruce Guy gave a
summary of the past year and
what could be looked forward to
in the year ahead. Miss Judy Guy
spoke on her experiences at Toc
Alpha which she attended
recently.

Monteith-Thacker wedding at
Woodham United Church- with
the reception in the church
parlors.
Mrs. Percy Hodgins returned
home Monday from St, Joseph's
Hospital.

business. Twenty-four shut-in
boxes were distributed at
Christmas. New books are in the
library and Mrs. Harry Hayter
librarian had some on display.
The Aid will entertain at the
Bluewater Rest Home in June. A
bake sale will be held in the
summer. Suggestions for topics
are to be handed to the pastor. A
family night is planned for
February. The secretary is to
write to Act Fast again. The Altar
Guild is Mrs. Charles Martene and
Mrs. V. L. Becker.
Rev. Earl Steinman took as the
topic "Capital Punishment," with
the Bible as reference. Miss
Joanne Hayter favoured with a
piano solo and accompanied
Janices and Janice as they sang a
duet. Mrs, Lorne Genttner
conducted closing devotions.
, 'CHOIR RETURNS OFFICERS
The. choir of Zion Lutheran
church held the annual meeting
and social evening at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Stade
Thursday, January 14. All
officers were returned. Mrs. Marie
Restemayer was presented a small
gift in token of her work with the
choir. The evening was then spent
playing Court Whist with winners
Mrs. Albert Miller and Ernest
Miller; low, Miss Helen Nadiger
and Albert Miller.
COUSIN DIES
Mrs. Margaret Ann Pierce, 91,
widow of the late James Anthony
Pierce who died 11 years ago,
passed away at the home of her
cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Irwin
in Dasb.wood with whom she had
made her home for five years. She
was formerly from Reston,
Manitoba and Lucknow.
She is survived by one son,
Clifford, and two grandchildren,
Edmonton;
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman funeral home
where the service was conducted
by Rev. Bruce Guy
with temporary entombment in
Exeter Cemetery Mausoleum
with burial later in Greenhill
cemetery, Lucknow.
