HERE IS A MAN
who was born in an obscure village,
the child of a peasant woman. He grew
up in another obscure village. He
worked in a carpenter shop until he
was thirty and then for three years he
was an itinerant preacher. He never
wrote a book. He never held an office.
He never owned a home. He never had
a family. He never went to college. He
never put his foot inside a big city. He
never travelled two hundred miles from the place where He was born. He
never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no
credentials but Himself.
WHILE still a young man the tide of popular opinion turned against Him.
His friends ran away, One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His
enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross
between two thieves. His executors gambled for the only piece of property
He had on earth while He was dying — and that was His coat. When He was
dead He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a
friend.
NINETEEN wide centuries have come and gone and today He is the
centrepiece of a human race and the leader of a column of progress.
IT IS far within the mark to say that all the armies that ever marched,
and all the navies that ever were built, and all the parliaments that ever sat
and all the kings that ever reigned, put together have not affected the life of
man upon this earth, as powerfully as has the ONE SOLITARY LIFE
We have a FREE COPY of this Inspirational "One Solitary Life"
suitable for framing for anyone wishing to write us. Also Sallman's
"Head of Christ" as depicted is also available on request.

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
By WAYNE ANDERSON
Exeter PS
I wish that all the poor people
could have a home and have
money. I also wish that wars
would stop. I- also wish people
would stop being greedy.
Jesus gave his life up for all of
the people that stand on the
earth. Y ou should pray on
Christmas to thank God for what
Jesus gave you: like clothes, food
to eat and a home to live in. Please
give to the poor.
THE FIRST CHRISTMAS
By GAIL BOUCHER
Grade 7 - J.A. D. McCurdy
It came upon one Christmas Eve
A star shone brightly over the
trees
A babe was born in a manger
And wasn't in fear of any danger.
For he was the Christ Child
Born gay, meek and mild,
And would reign over heaven
For a long, long while.
Three sheperds came from far and
wide
Over the waves and over the tides
Also three Kings from a far away
city
Bringing beautiful gifts that were
so pretty.
This is the night of that Christmas
Eve
The star shone brightly over the
trees
A babe was born in a manger
And wasn't in fear of any danger.

THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS
By ROBIN LITTLE
Stephen Central
Twas the night beforn Christmas,
When all through the garage,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a Dodge.
The tires were hung by the
window with care,
In hope that St. Nicholas would
fill them with air.
WHAT CHRISTMAS
MEANS TOME
By PAUL WAREING
Hensall PS
Christmas is giving presents
just as people gave to the Lord
Jesus at his birth. The biggest
present then was Jesus himself.
Most people forget that
Christmas is really the Lord's
birthday.
The one star that was seen on
Christ's birthday has never been
seen after that day. But even if
you forget what Christmas is
about you still give presents and
that's like what God gave to us,
Lord Jesus Christ.

SANTA'S SAD PLIGHT
By NANCY UNDERWOOD
Grade 7— Exeter PS
Christmas was near!
And Santa well knew it
'Cause all he could hear
Was the elves, with their lamps lit,
Laughing and murmuring while
making the toys
That soon would be given to good
girls and boys.
But, was Santa happy?
No he was not.
His coat was no longer snappy
And his hat he forgot
To put mothballs in, believe it or
not!
So he sat all day nursing his
troubles and woes
While trying to warm his sensitive
toes.
Now Mrs. Claus knew 'bout this
terrible plight
And started to do something way
before sight
Of Santa's long, cold and tiring
flight.
She made him a new suit of bright
red and white
Made out of flannel (it was
cuddly, quite)
And wrapped them up in
beautiful paper,
For Santa to open before his long
caper.
When the big night came Mrs.
Claus did her stuff
And Santa just couldn't thank her
enough
A very happy Santa called to his
reindeer
And yelled "Now I'll not have to
be in any shame, dear."

Christi" os dinner
is work of art
By .KEVIN WAREING
Grade 7 —Hensall P, S..
Christmas, dinner is a
wonderful work of art. The main
dish is turkey .cooked to .a rich
golden brown and oozing with.
juice and tender, delicate white
meat.
This masterpiece is stuffed full
of delicious, brown, juicy bread
stuffing. On. the side are whipped
potatoes that haven't a single
lump and are just dripping with
rich yellow butter. Surrotinding
this are jellos and salads of every
description,
To .drink, there is a gigantic
bowl of punch with cherries and a
touch of some liquid that adds a
little life,. And for dessert! In
comes plum pudding dripping
with sauce, feather-light cakes,
flaky-crusted pies, ice-cream,
cookies, Christmas cake, and
fruits such as oranges, grapes,
apples, pears and cherries.
Now that's the kind of art they
should have at school.
THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS
By JOHN VAN GERWEN
Grade 7 Precious Blood
T'was the night before Christmas,
And what could be seen?
Left over candies from last
hallowe'en,
Stuffed in the stockings, and
piled up by one,
For some cheapskate fam'ly who
thought it was fun.
But what was that figure?
So high in the sky,
It looked like some reindeer and
one big, fat guy,
Of course it was Santa with all of
his cheers,
Who has been so faithful for so
many years.
'Twas 12 o'clock even when
Santa Clause came,
To bring this one family game
after game,
He jumped down the chimney
and began to unload,
But looked up to see something
which made him explode.
Those hallowe'en candies put him
on fire,
And stockings with holes in made
him go higher,
This nitwitted fam'ly just
grabbed what was handy,
Be darned if I bother to give them
a candy.
So up the chimney went good ol'
saint Nick,
This unrespectful fam'ly had paid
for their trick,
So on the house good SaintNick
stood,
Then off to the next place where
he hoped would be good.
