Christmas Sunday was
observed in the U.C. with the
sacrament of Holy Communion
being administered. Soloist was
Mr. Wm Brenner and the junior
choir occupied the choir loft and
sang the Christmas benediction.
Candles and decorations in red
and green were beautifully
arranged by Mrs. Agnes Smith
and Mrs. Louise Wilson for the
service.

The Women's Institute met
Thursday in the village hall for
their Christmas meeting. The vice
president, Mrs. Ed Gill, chaired
the meeting. A program of
readings, poems and carols
arranged by the branch directors,
Mrs. Verne Ridley, Mrs. Carmen
Lovie and Mrs. Myrtle McGregor
spread the feeling of Christmas
among the members.
Roll call was exchange of a
gift. The motto, It's Not the Price
That Sets the Value on the Gift
We Send --r Its How Much Love
Goes With it.
Mrs. Nola Taylor, (district
di re c tor), reported having
attended the fall board meeting
held in Hensall in November.
A motion to send a donation
of money to the Children's War
Memorial Hospital, London, was
voted unanimous.
An item of interest during the
meeting was the hanging of a new
up to date picture of the Queen
and Prince Philip in the entrance
of the village hall. Mr. R.
McKinley, M.P. for Huron sent
these pictures at the request of
the Institute.
Lunch followed the meeting.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT
Grand Bend United Church
Sunday School held a Christmas
concert Friday evening with Mrs.
Wm. Brenner as chairman.
Carol singing opened the
program which included groups
singing, choral readings, a
quartette, duet, piano solos, skits
and a group of junior girls who
sang to the accompaniment of a
Tijuana Brass record. Santa
visited the children at the end of
the program and gave out bags of
candy.
Monday afternoon, in the
Parish Hall of St. John's by the
Lake Anglican Church, the
children and their mothers met
for their Christmas concert. Carol
singing accompanied on the piano
by Rev. Insley was enjoyed by all.
A short play from the scripture in
Luke's Gospel was presented by
the children.
Gifts and candy were given to
the children from the Sunday

A total of 20 goals were
scored in novice house league
last week. The Road Runners
managed to tie the Canucks
Randy Parsons scored five and
Eugene Clarke a single for the
Road Runners. Dave Atthill got
two with singles from Randy
Fisher, Brian Mercer, Mike
Burke and Ted Triebner to
account for the Canucks total,
Brad Taylor was a main factor
as his Boston team defeated the
Black Hawks 7-1. Taylor scored
four while teammates Dwayne
Mathers, Dennis Preszcator and
David Robinson scored one
each, The lone Black Hawk goal
was scored by Randy Carnie.

Another win
for bantams
The Exeter bantams
contfoued their winning ways • in
Shamrock minor play Monday
night at the Lucan arena by
downing Ilderton by a score of
3-1.
Scoring in single fashion for
the Exeter club were Wayne
Regier, Brad Datars and Steve
Schroeder.
Becker scored three and Tom
Hayter two for the Boston
cause, Bruce Gunn and. Doug
Regier scored a goal each for the
Panthers.

The biggest little hockey
tournament will be held here on
Wednesday, December 30
starting at 8:45 a.m. All players
will be between 6 and 8 years of
age. Ten games will be played
throughout the day.
After supper starting at about
6:30 will be the two final games
of the day for the A and B
championships and trophies. All
players will receive crests and
lunch will be provided.
Admission for the tournament
will be 50c for adults and 25c
for children. I would like to wish
all a Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year.
