The directors, Mrs. Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Ervin Devine and Mrs. Erwin Schade were in charge of the Christmas program and lunch, Mrs. Howard. Maier, president, dealt with the business. Mrs. Gordon Bender, delegate to the London area convention in Stratford, gave an interesting report, A letter and Christmas card from the WI's adopted girl in India was on display, It was also reported that Mrs. H. Boyle was making a scrap book of the adopted girls which was also on display. The ladies were reminded of 4-H Achievement Day. A donation was made to the men's club Christmas party for the children. Court Whist was played with Mrs. Gordon Bender receiving top prize and Mrs. 0. A. Todd, low, Mrs. Eben Weigand and her daughter Norma showed pictures on their trip to the east coast last summer. Lunch and an exchange of gifts with secret pals brought the evening to a close. LADIES' AID The Ladies' Aid of Zion Lutheran church held their annual and Christmas meeting December 9 with group I and Mrs. Jim Hayter convener in charge. Reports were read from all secretaries, treasurers, and conveners showing a successful year. Mrs. Albert Miller presided for the election of officers: Past-president, Mrs, Lorne Genttner; president, Mrs. Jim Hay ter; vice-president, Mrs. Ernest Koehler; secretary, Miss Helen Nadiger; treasurer, Mrs. John Rader; card secretary, Mrs. Martha Miller; flower and treat fund secretary, Mrs. Albert Miller; librarians, Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs. Ray Rader; pianist, Miss Helen Nadiger; assistant, Mrs. Marie Restemayer; auditors, Mrs. Lorne Genttner and Mrs. Marie Restemayer. The altar guild for December is Mrs, Hilda Haugh and Mrs. Laura Datars. Flowers are to be purchased for the altar for Christmas and shut-in boxes are to be packed December 20, A Christmas gift of money will be sent to Parkwood Hospital for a patient there. Cards of thanks were read and donations reported. A short program followed, with group IV having .Carol and Barbara Rader play piano and accordion selections; 'group II, piano selections by Sherrie Stale; group III, a skit, -The- Christmas Tarantula; group I, Christmas carols and lunch, A gift was later presented to Rev, and Mrs. Steinrnan who are both ill. PERSONALS Wendy Jean, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. 13obert Boogemans was baptized in Zion Lutheran church Sunday afternoon by Rev. L. Eifert, Stratford. Sponsors were Mr. & Mrs. Ken Genttner. Mrs. Delmar Miller attended the Farmers' Union convention in Winnipeg last week. Her little son Christopher spent the week with her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Tedball, Forest. Mr. & Mrs. Sheldon Gould, Windsor, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Chandler. Mrs. Richard Rader, Goderich, was a lucky winner of $150.00 of clothing at the Fashion Shop, Goderich. Friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Alphonse Grenier Sunday evening for a three way celebration. It was Mr. & Mrs. A. Grenier's 23rd wedding anniversary; their daughter Rose Rader's birthday, and the departure of their nephew Gerard Grenier who has joined the army and is stationed at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. Santa Claus will be in Dashwood, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Centre with treats for the children. By MISS LOUISE KIRK The Kippen UCW Christmas meeting was a highlight of the year when Brucefield UCW was invited to combine with the Kippen ladies. Christmas carols played by Mrs. Ross Broadfoot set the mood for a candle-lighting worship service by Mrs. Gerald Moffat assisted by Mrs. Hugh Hendrick, Mrs. K. McLellan, Mrs. Bert Faber, Mrs. R. Elgie and Mrs. L. Cooper. Mrs. E. Kyle and Mrs. Keith Lovell sang solos. Roll call was answered by What I Like Best About Christmas. Mrs. R. Elgie conducted the business when reports were heard from the various committees. Mrs. John Sinclair told the Christmas story of Ben David whose orchards and vineyards kept him too occupied to go to see the Christ Child and only at the foot of the Cross did the anguished realization come to him of the chances for service which he had missed. Mr. & Mrs. Stan Preszcator spent Thursday night at the Exeter Pentecostal Church. There was a supper given in honor of Rev, F. Rhude who is leaving for Midland. By MRS, ROSS SKINNER ELIMVILLE The Christmas meeting of the Elimville Women's Institute was held at the hall Wednesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Ivan Brock was in the chair for the opening business. Roll call was $1.00 to be given for Care. candle-making. Mrs. Elgie told of Kippen's wish to pay for the Avel films this year. Mrs. Elgie also reported of the work of the London Rescue Mission in connection with the UCW's Christmas donations to that organization. Brucefield UCW also contributed, At an executive meeting shut-in boxes had been packed and Christmas concert plans completed and the year's program planned. It was decided to hold 1971 meetings on the second Thursday of each month. A poem prayer closed the meeting, after which Mrs. Elgie invited everyone to the Sunday school room for refreshments which Unit I served. By MRS. HEBER DAVIS Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll were dinner guests recently with Mr. Carroll's sister, Mrs. Ada Ings, London. Gote Wennerstrom spent Friday visiting Mr. & Mrs. Don Simpson, Strathroy. He was accompanied by Mrs. Garnet Isaac and Marjorie, London. • A number of relatives and friends from this community attended the Greenlee-Anderson wedding at Trivitt Memorial Church, Exeter, Friday evening. Heather Davis, Exeter, spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her parents. Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were Saturday evening guests with Mr. & Mrs. Earl Shoebottom, Ilderton. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Carroll, London, to Detroitp last week. While there they visited with their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. George Carroll. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Tindall and children attended the Christmas party at the United Church, Centralia, Saturday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Davis spent Wednesday, in Woodstock. It was decided to send $10.00 to the Children's War Memorial Hospital: Reports of the London area conventional held at Stratford at Central United Church was given by Mrs. Lorne Johns and the district meeting held at Hensall sent by Mrs. Philip Hem and read by Mrs. Brock. The fair display exhibits were given and are a doll made from corn husks; table favour made from popped corn; mantel arrangement from corn (leaves, tassle); doll dressed in bride's dress and a going away outfit as well; two year old girl's dress made from man's shirt. A donation was made to the Children's Aid at Goderich and a baby bank book was presented to Mrs. Bev Parsons for her daughter. The Christmas program was conducted by Mrs. Philip Johns and Mrs. Clifton Jaques. Poems were read by Mrs. Jaques. The Christmas story and scripture were read alternately by Mrs. Johns and Mrs. Jaques. Mrs. Howard Pym sang a solo and carols were enjoyed. Lunch was served by the hostesses Mrs. Harold Kerslake, Mrs. Martin De Jonge, Mrs. Ross Skinner, Mrs. Bev Parsons and Mrs. Squire Herdman. UCW The Elimville UCW held their December meeting Monday afternoon, in the church when they entertained the Baby Band and mothers. Following the business, with Mrs. Howard Pym in charge, the program was presented by Mrs. John Batten and Mrs. Wm. Routly.
