Several changes
in lady curling
Changes have taken place at
the top of the standings in two
divisions of the Exeter ladies
curling club.
Lois Learn has moved her rink
into the Tuesday lead with a
50-49 edge over Melva Ecker's
foursome. In the Wednesday
section, Marg. McCarter and her
group have taken over first place
with a 531/2 point total, Rinks
skipped by Dorothy Coates and
Marg Murley are deadlocked in
second place with 48 points
apiece.
Janet Lovell's rink was the
only one able to retain their
league lead from a week ago. The
Lovell rink has 50 points and a
good margin over second place
rinks headed by Win Marshall and
Edna Busche at 39 points each.

Less than live minutes later
the Jets went ahead to stay when
Barry Irwin poked a loose puck
into the Acton net. Jamie Robb
and Dick Doughty were
instrumental in setting up the
score,
Qnly two goals were realized
in the second session with the Jets
getting both to take a four goal
edge on the scoreboard. Steve
Proctor notched the first on a
three-way effort with Jamie
Robb and Walt Parkinson.
The final goal of the second
came on a Jet power play with
Doug Galloway playing the point
driving in a hard slap shot, Irwin
assisted for his third point of the
night.
In the third frame, the Jets
struck quickly fox two goals to
put the game pretty well out of
reach of the Tanners. Ken Loft
fired the first with help from Dick
Doughty and Barry Irwin
followed with an unassisted
score.
Bob Riddall scored the second
Acton goal at 6.54 and Doughty
scored on a power play for the
Jets with the help of Barry Irwin
and Don Urbshott.
Dave Norton was back with
the third Acton score and Steve
Proctor wound up the game
scoring at 18.30 with a wicked
slap shot on an unassisted play.

Thanks to a couple of
four-point games, the
Lucan-Ilderton Jets hold a
commanding lead at the top of
the standings in the Ontario
Hockey Association Intermediate
"13" league standings.
The Jets with two double wins
over the Acton Tanners lead the
league with seven wins and a tie
good for 19 points. The Durham
Huskies are in second spot with
11 points and the Elmira Polar
Kings are third with an even 10
point record,
The Jets travelled to Acton
Friday night and trounced the
Tanners by a score of 8.3. Their
only game scheduled in the next
three weeks is at the Huron Park
arena, Sunday afternoon at two
o'clock when the Fergus Thistles
will be supplying the opposition.
They will then be idle until
January 8 when the second place
Durham Huskies will be at the
Huron Park arena.
According to the latest league
statistics, playing coach Jack
Nairn and Barry Irwin of the Jets
are tied for second place in the
league scoring race with 17 points
apiece. Butch Graham of Durham
is the leader with 21 points.
Get even quickly
After giving up the first goal of
the game in Acton Friday night
shortly after one minute of play
had elapsed, the Jets were quick
to get back on even terms.
Gary Nylar fired the puck past
Wayne Parkinson in the Jets net
at the 1.27 mark of the first
period but it took the L-I club
only 33 seconds to get back on
even terms.

Canucks won their first game as
they defeated the Black I-Iawks
3-2. Brian Mercer scored two and
Randy Fisher one for the Canuck
cause. David Bogart scored both
for the Black Hawks.
Boston defeated the Road
Runners 7-1. Paul Van Gerwen,
Brad Taylor and Dennis Prezcator
scored two each and Darrell
Prezcator one for Boston.
Tony Mattucci scored the only
goal for the Road Runners.
In Pee Wee, the scores also
varied greatly. The Blues defeated
the Panthers 5.4 in the first game.
Brian Horrell with a "hat trick,"
Ken Pinder and Paul Brooks both
scored singles.
Doug Regier, Jim Webb, Paul
Shapton, and Gary Blanchard
scored singles forthe Panthers.
The next game was very
lopsided as the Seals trounced
Boston 10-3. Morley Obre led the
Seals with four goals. Gregg
Beattie and Brian Clarke both got
two and John Van Gerwen and
Robert Heard got the singles.
Tom Hayter scored two of the
goals for Boston and Marty
Becker one.
A trade between the Seals and
Boston sent Brian Clarke and Jeff
Darling to the Seals and Marty
Becker and Fraser Boyle to
Boston.

Zurich club gets
victory and tie
The Zurich Combines gained
three out of a four possible points
in Western Ontario Athletic
Association hockey last week.
The Combines played to a 7-7
tie with the Elora Rocks in Elora
Thursday night and edged the
Listowel Vets 4-3 in Zurich,
Tuesday night.
Friday night the Combines
travel to Harriston and next
Tuesday they will be home at the
Zurich arena to the league leading
Milverton Four-Wheel Drives.
Bill Chipchase has been signed
by the Combines and will be in
action in the Tuesday game.
Glenn Overholt, Chuck
Humbey, Bob Merner and Kevin
McKinnon were the Zurich goal
scorers in the 4-3 win over
Listowel.
John Loader and Kevin
McKinnon each scored twice to
head the Combine scoring against
Elora with single markers being
fired by Fred Lamb, George
Suplat and Bob Merner.
