The meeting was hosted by Mrs. Earl Rowe, Mrs. Russell Errat, Mrs. Eric Luther, Mrs. Laird Mickle and was conducted by the , president Mrs. Vern Alderdice and her co-worker Mrs. Rodger Venner. A Christmas tableau was The annual Christmas party for the children of the Legion and Auxiliary was held Sunday afternoon in the Legion Hall when forty bags of candy and gifts were given out to the children. Films were shown and lunch served. Mrs. Wm Smale and Mrs. John Skea were in charge of the project. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Parker and family have returned home after a pleasant visit with the former's brother-in-law and sister, Cst. Douglas & Mrs, Wein and David in North Sydney, N.S. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor is holidaying with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke in Scarborough. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Westaway of Burlington visited last week with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Rod. Mrs. George Armstrong is a Company Funds Guaranteed Funds Estates, Trusts and Agencies Total Assets under Administration presented with Mrs. Harry Hoy and Mrs. Howard Scane doing the commentary. Mrs. Alma Hess left Thursday of this week by plane to spend the winter months with her three sisters and a brother in Regina, Sask. Mrs. Grace Harpole left Wednesday to visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Grover Book, at Ottawa. Ed Fink who has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, where he underwent surgery in his neck, has returned home. The annual Christmas party for the children of Hensall and Community was held at the arena Saturday, sponsored by the businessmen, and organizations and individuals of the village. Santa caused quite a stir when he arrived at the arena in the new fire truck. Four hundred bags of treats and chocolate milk were given to Christmas The WMS of Carmel Presbyterian Church, met Monday evening. with 17 members and home helpers. President Mrs, R. A. Mrs. Ann Broadfoot of Hensall, knitted five tiny shirts and passed them over to the WMS to be sent to the needy children of India. Slate of officers for 1971 was brought in by Mrs. George Walz and Mrs. Robert Madge, Mrs. W. Jarvis of Exeter installed the officers as follows: past president, Mrs. Earl Campbell; president, Mrs, R. A, Orr, vice president, Mrs. Gordon Schwalm; secretary, Mrs. Gordon Schwalm; assistant secretary, Mrs. Pearl Love; treasurer, Mrs. Ed Munn, Glad Tidings, Mrs, Ed Munn; Sick receive sunshine bags Meeting at the home of Mrs. Eric Luther, several women, including Mrs. Pearl Erratt, Mrs. Gladys Mitchell, Mrs. Polly McMurtrie, Mrs. Edna Paterson and Mrs. Eva Thompson, packaged approximately 250 League of Mercy Sunshine bags for the Salvation Army. During the weekend Mrs. Luther delivered the treats to the following homes and institutions: Braemor Manor Nursing Home; Wilhelm Residential Home; Davis Nursing Home; Queensway Nursing Home; Blue Water Rest Home; Kilbarchan Nursing Home and Seaforth Manor, Seaforth. Treats were also supplied to shut-ins in Hensall. Page 6 Times-Acivocal*, Church members sing at Homes Grades VII, VIII, IX and X of Hensall United Church Sunday School, under the leadership of Jack Caldwell, Wayne Payne and Mrs. Cecil Pepp9r, visited the Queensway Nursing Horne last Sunday where they sang carols for the patients and passed treats which they had brought. The minister, organist and senior choir of Hensall United Church presented a Christmas vesper service at the Bluewater Rest Home, Sunday afternoon, Following the service Mrs. Turkbeirn, organist, and her husband Jack entertained every one at their home in Zurich. Mrs. Gary Merritt and son Gregory who have been visiting with the formers parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne have returned to California, Chiselhurst Wi hear minister talk Mrs, Russell Brock opened the Christmas meeting of Chiselhurst United Church Women with a poem, Continuing Christ. The worship, A Christmas Gift, was taken by Mrs. Tom Brintnell. 16 members answered the roll call with a Christmas memory. Several guests were present for the meeting. Mrs. Alvin Cole, Mrs. Jack Brintnell, Mrs. Brock gave a skit, Don't Let It Happen Without Me and Rev. H. Currie gave the message, Thinking Again About Christmas. The meeting closed with the singing of carols. Sixteen Christmas baskets were packed and delivered to shut-ins of the congregation. Hostesses were Mrs. Alvin Cole, Mrs. Jack Brintnell, Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Rose Harris. Gifts presented to 4-H leaders The Legion 'Hall decorated for Christmas was the setting for the meeting of Hensall WI with the theme, Cultural Activities. Mrs. James McAllister presided and members answered the roll call with a gift for the Christmas stocking for Goderich Hospital. Mrs. R. M. Peck reported on the bazaar and Christmas Fair at Huronview and Mrs. Wm ,,Brintnell reported for the sick and shut-ins. The 4-H Achievement Day will be held January 9 in Zurich. Plans were made for a euchre in Legion Hall January 21, proceeds for the Winter Carnival. Mrs. Peck gave a report of the district executive meeting. Mrs. Carl Payne chaired the program which included piano duets by Nancy and Barbara McCurdy; readings, Mrs. Albert Shirray; piano selections, Jack Caldwell; films by Bill Fuss. A contest was conducted with winners being Mrs. Alma Hess, Mrs. Sherritt, Mrs. W. filling, Mrs. Grace Harpole, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. R. A. Orr, Mrs. John Skea. Gifts were presented to the 4-H leaders Mrs. Wm Fuss and Mrs. Don Travers, and Mrs. Peck was presented with a gift, too. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley gave the report of the area Convention at ^ Stratford. Mrs. T. Sherritt gave courtesy remarks. Program conveners were Miss Greta Lammie, Mrs. Carl Payne and hostesses were Mrs. R. Elgie and Mrs. J. McAllister. Musical numbers for the evening by the UCW sextette which comprised of Miss Mary Goodwin, Mrs. Ron Mock, Mrs. Cecil "Pepper,, Mrs. Robert Reaburn, Mrs. J. C. Goddard, Mrs. Carl Passmore with Mrs. Wm Fuss playing th-e accompaniment. Mrs. Laird Mickle presented a medley of sacred songs on the piano and the carol singing throughout the tableau and the program with Mrs. Fuss at the organ. Mrs. James McAllister, on behalf of the UCW, presented the retiring president, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, with a Life Membership and pin of the UCW.
