T-A photo. .Brinsiey UAW meets ANGLICAN CHURCH Last Monday, two lay delegates represented the congregation at the installation of Right Reverend Carman John Queen, B.A., D.D., as Bishop of Huron. They were Mr. Harvey Hodgins and Mr. Jack Murdy, The Anglican Church Women held their Christmas meeting December 2 at the home of Mrs. King. A large attendance enjoyed the meeting which was chaired by the president Mrs. Harvey Hodgins. December 15, all the women of the church are invited to attend a special meeting at 8 p.m. when the future of women's work in Holy Trinity Church will be discussed. Sunday, the third Sunday in Advent, Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. The young people are asked to be present. The Sunday School will meet at 9:45, At 11:00 a.m. there will be a six lesson Advent service of readings and hymns. During the service the nursery will meet in the Parish Hall. The League of Loyalty will meet after the sixth lesson. The annual Sunday School Christmas Concert will be held in the Parish Hall in the evening. The Anglican Young People's Movement will open the Orange Trash Can Coffee House, Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m. UNITED CHURCH A White Gift service was held at Lucan United Church last Sunday. This is a day set apart for everyone to think of those who are not so fortunate as they are, and to bring gifts to be distributed. This year these gifts will be sent to the Saugeen Indian reserve. The Sunday Church School participated in the service, the Superintendent Mrs. Frances Saward taking the Approach to God and reading the children's story. Lessons were read by Judy McLellan and Brent Froats and the youth choir and junior choir each sang an anthem. The baskets of gifts were brought in for the blessing by Dianne Leitch, Bill Lockyer, Jeff Young and Bill Barr. Mr. Tupling's sermon was entitled, God's Gift to a Suffering World. CGIT Vesper Service will be held December 20 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come. CWL The Catholic Women's League of St. Patrick's Church held their regular monthly meeting in the form of a Christmas party, Tuesday. Thirty-five ladies and Father J. G. McGraw were present. After a short business discussion the party got under way with a singsong of carols led by Mrs. H. N. Mooney and Mrs. Leo Morkin. After an exchange of gifts a few games of bingo were played. The door prize was won by Mrs. Mary Mackey and the draw of the Christmas centrepiece was won by Mrs. Leo Morkin. By SID DALEY 540's "Coach" Comrade Gord Bison after the shuffle and "Draft" managed to eke out a decisive win in Cribbage at Zone Sports in Delaware last Friday but on the other sports, `Zowee' did we ever take a trimming. The coach has decided his team requires more practice and has also decreed that all sports are to meet at Branch 540 on Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. for a warm up, All foolin' aside Comrades, Comrade Cord has come up with more sports for your enjoyment, at the time mentioned above, every Saturday 540 will sponsor branch darts, This started last Saturday and we had a good crowd. Next Zone sports will be Friday, Jan. 8 and will see Lucan at Ailsa Craig and with the "sweat sessions" the coach is putting his teams through these days the Comrades of Ailsa Craig had better watch out. "Newfie makes good" Branch 540 is pleased to announce their genial Steward, Comrade Carl Stuckless has been named Branch Manager. We are extremely happy for our popular manager and wish him every success. Life's like that — Epitaph on Explorers join vesper service The last expedition of the Lucan-Clandeboye Explorers saw the film, The Friendly Beasts at the Manger, Monday evening. Scriptures were read by Janice Kestle and Dianne Lynn. The next Explorer activity will be to join in the CGIT Vesper service December 20. REVIVAL CENTRE A special Sunday School program at 7 p.m. December 13 will be held at the Lucan Revival ' Centre. There will be solos and duets and special singing by the children. Each class will take part in the program including the young people, who will put on a skit. the grave of a hypochondriac "I told you I was sick". Comrades, our Early Bird campaign is really progressing remarkably well with 45.12 percent of our membership paid for 1971. We certainly appreciate the support of these good Comrades. After all the Name of the Game is membership. So come on Comrades, time is getting shorter. Get your 1971 Former Lucanites at choir concert Former Lucanites, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Stanley, Mrs. Charles Sumner and Mrs. N. Abbott were among the large group who gathered in the auditorium of the McCormick Home, last Wednesday, when Teri Culbert of CFPL-TV (another former Lucanite) showed his movies of the McCormick Choir, as well as two other films. The pictures were followed by a program of songs and solos by the Choir with Miss Lina Abbott acting as mistress of ceremonies. Initiation, held for Lions Initiation was affected by district governor, Joe Kovacs, assisted by the initiation chief of the Mount Brydges Lions Club at the regular meeting of the Lucan Lions in the Anglican Church basement last Monday. New members inducted in the local club were Bernard Benn, Jack Tutty, Jim Simpson. Twenty-nine members of the Mount Brydges club and ten members of the North London club were present. The Lucan club had 90% attendance. President Gordon Brooks took the chair. Family night will be held in two weeks. dues paid in advance not only will it give you one less New Year's resolution to break, it will give you something to crow about — join the Lively Guys at 540. Comrade Pat Crudge, New Year's Eve Dance chairman advises that all those who have reserved a table for the dance must pick up their tickets by December 19, otherwise these tickets will be made available to the stand by list. At a recent executive meeting it was decided to make the Sea, Land & Air Lounge available to any overflow that might occur. It was indicated to the executive there are some members who are disappointed in not being able to obtain tickets. Comrade Harvey Hillman requests that all Comrades with tickets on the Christmas Draw to ..lease return the stubs to him at the Legion on Saturday, Dec. 12. Branch 540 will hold a Happy Hour on Dec. 18 between 5 and 7 p.m. for all card holding members. As I said before Comrades and it is worth repeating the name of the game is Branch 540 where all the action is. See you there Comrades. Exeter, Mrs. Alec Young is improving very slowly and still spends most of her time in bed. She would be very pleased to have more visi tors. The Snow-flake Bazaar held last Friday evening in the Lucan United Church basement was a great success. There was such a crowd of people that selling had to start before the advertised time. PANTRY PARTY A pantry shower was held at the home of Mrs. R6n Crozier for Mrs. Frank Jolliffe who has recently moved into the apartment over the Lucan Locker Store.
