Tigers get victory
are without a league
The Crediton Tigers
outscored the Clinton Colts 12-7
in Clinton Thursday night in
what is. probably their last OHA
league game of the season.
The Clinton club has folded
and the Seaforth Beavers have
replaced Walkerton in the
northern grouping leaving
Crediton as the lone club in this
area,
Manager Joe Regier is
attempting to find a spot in
another league. He has been
assured by OHA officials that
the .Crediton club will receive a
bye into OHA playoffs.
The Tigers will continue in
action by -playing an exhibition
game Sunday night at the Huron
Park arena at 8:30 against a club
from the South Middlesex
league,
In Clinton Thursday the
Tigers roared right to the front
with a six goal barrage in the
first period.
Paul Young scored twice in
the first period with single goals
being fired by Bill Taylor, Gary
Grant, Dennis Morrissey and Bill

Irish get split
in Junior hockey
The Lucan Irish split a pair of
games over the past week in
OHA Junior `D' play. The Irish
blanked Tavistock 9-0 and were
blasted 12-3 by the Exeter
Hawks in Exeter, Friday night.
Wednesday the Tavistock
Warriors proved little opposition
for the fighting Irish bowing 9-0.
In the first period Dennis Carty
scored at 18.50 assisted by Tom
Hodgins and Jeff Craig and at
this point it looked like we
might have a close game.
In the second period Jim
Hearn, Jeff Craig, Jack Bradley
and Ken Needham scored to
make the score 5-0.
In the third and final 20
minutes Jim Hearn scored twice,
Brad Barclay and Dennis Carty
each scored singles. Both teams
were given 12 penalties in the
game. Lucan outshot the visitors
54 to 31.
The first star went to Dennis
Carty, second star to Jeff Craig
and thirdstar to Jim Hearn.
Friday night the Irish
travelled to Exeter and were
badly beaten by Bob White's
crew absorbing a 12-3 loss.
Details of this game can be
read elsewhere on the sports
pages.
As yet the Irish are not
playing as a team and could take
a lesson from the team play of
the Hawks who pass the puck
and skate as a unit. Because of
this the Exeter entry is well on
its way to another league
championship. Until our boys
learn to take a check without
blowing their cool we will have
to rely on spectacular
goaltending
