Donations were approved to. the Christmas Tree Fund for the children of Hensall and community. Hensall Branch of the Canadian Legion, the Auxiliary and Teen Town will send Shut-ins get U.C.W. gifts Christmas treats were delivered to 30 shut-ins of Hensall United Church, Tuesday afternoon. This is a project of the friendship and visitation committee which is composed of Mrs. R. J. Drysdale, convener, Mrs. Stanley Mitchell, Mrs. Lome Hay, Mrs. A. W. Shirray, Mrs, Jack Simmons, Mrs. Pearl Passmo re, Mrs. Jack Consitt, Mrs, Wilmer Ferguson and Mrs. Harvey Keys. By MRS. FRED BOWDEN Mr. & Mrs. Richard Fox and Carolyn Rowe of Windsor, visited during the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Essery. Mrs. Lorne Hicks who has been confined to her home with her foot in a cast for the past ten weeks was able to drive her car Monday for the first time since her accident. The results of the euchre party in the Community Centre Monday night were as follows: ladies high, Mrs. Tom Kooy; ladies lone hands, Mrs. Gerald Campbell; low score, Myrna Carter. Men's high, Lawrence Hirtzel, lone hands, Joe Carter; low scores, Ken Hodgins. The United Church Women will hold their Christmas meeting in the schoolroom of the church on Thursday evening. The Sunday School Christmas entertainment will be presented in the schoolroom of the church " Saturday evening. Christmas boxes to veterans at. Westminster Hospital and shut-in members and will entertain children of Legion and Auxiliary members at a Christmas party December 13. The Auxiliary members will also sponsor a hockey team in conjunction with the Legion; cater to two banquets this month, and hold a New Years Eve dance. Mrs. J. Chalmers won the guessing prize. The mystery, attendance, and special Christmas draw prizes were won by Mrs. Grant Bisback. Bingo was enjoyed and a Christmas lunch was served during which members exchanged gifts. Girls enroll at Brownies Spruce boughs formed a setting of the enchanted forest in which six Brownies were enrolled. Tawny Owl, Mrs. Rodger Venner assisted by Mrs. Eric Luther conducted the ceremony while Brown Owl, Mrs. Robert Cook, enrolled Vicke Mann, Sandra Dixon, Becky. Baker, Anna Marie Duffy, Laurie Flynn, Tammy Turner. Interest badges were presented to Julie Mock, toyma kers; Cheryl Fuss, housekeeper. Mrs. Luther was presented with Tawny Owl Warrant and pin by Mrs. Robert Cook. Cheryl Fuss showed her dolls and told history of costumes for her collectors badge. Brownies are presenting toys to Childrens Aid as their Christmas good deed. By Louise Kirk Mr. & Mrs. Louis Kirk and family visited with Mr. & Mrs. Roy Kirk, Port Stanley on the weekend. Mrs. Mary Mellis and Mrs. Margaret Bernard of Exeter spent a few days with Mr. & Mrs. Tom Burke of Toronto last week. Thirty nine Christmas gifts were delivered by members of Hensall Kinette Club Sunday during their annual visit to sick and shut-ins in South Huron Hospital, Bluewater Rest Home, Huronview, Queensway Nursing Home, and shut-ins in the village. Next Sunday at Hensall United Church the Hi-C will collect special contributions of canned goods for Teen-Girls Home, London. Mr. & Mrs. Ross Corbett, Jeff and Steve were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe, Mitchell. Miss Jennie Buchanan who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter for the past several weeks' returned to her home. Mr. & Mrs. John Driscoll, Tammy and Berry of Walton visited this week with Mrs. Driscoll's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. & Mrs. Ross Corbett. Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian ACW remember prayer partner The regular meeting of the ACW of St. Pauls' Anglican Church was held at the home of Mrs. W. Scrabuik. The meeting opened with the members prayer and devotions. Mrs. Mary Taylor led in the reading of the litany and Mrs. Scrabuik gave a reading. Roll call was a verse from the Bible pertaining to Christmas. Plans were made for Nursing Home visits and the sending of treats to the shut-ins. A donation was also sent to the group's prayer partner Church on Sunday. Sermon subject, The Heart of the Gospel. Members of the Ladies' Aid assisted the choir in the service under the direction of the organist Mrs. Malcolm Dougall. Communion service will be observed in Carmel Presbyterian Church next Sunday. Ann Mickle of Toronto spent the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Mickle of London visited with the former's parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle, Sunday. Mrs. R. A. Orr received word last week of the passing away of her sister's husband, Elwood Dove, of Flint, Michigan. The late Mr. Dove was in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mrs. Margaret Consitt and Mrs., Rose Broderick volunteered to Ladies enjoy Christmas carols Unit IV of United Church Women held their Christmas meeting with 26 members and two visitors present. Mrs, James McAllister opened the meeting with thoughts about stars, with reference to the Star of Bethlehem. Mrs. Harold Currie told the Christmas story assisted by Mrs. Gordon Love who read from the scriptures, and with Mrs. Laird Mickle at the piano. Several Christmas carols were sung. Mrs. Eric Luther taught the group a new song and conducted a Bible quiz. Reports were given by the treasurer and the chairman of the social assistance-group. Visits to sick and shut ins were reported. Members were asked to bring gifts for the Queensway Nursing Home to the General meeting, December 14. visit the Queensway Nursing Rome December. Friendship Night will be held January .6 when members will exchange gifts with their secret pals. Mrs. Ruby Bell presided for the entertainment and readings and carol singing were directed by Mrs. Olga Chipchase. A reading was given by Mrs, Dorothy Parker. An exchange of Christmas gifts from the tree was directed by Mrs. Dorothy Corbett, Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs, Alice Ferg, Refreshments were served by the social committee, Mrs. Margaret Ingram, Mrs. Rose Broderick and Mrs. Beatrice Richardson. Hensall Kinsmen Club will play host for the annual senior citizens Christmas party at the Hensall Public School December 17 at 7:15 p.m, Entertainment will include a tour of the surrounding community, a film and a program of local talent. Mr. & Mrs. Don Rigby and Stewart Knights of Blenheim, visited over the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Snell and Stewart McQueen. Stewart McQueen and Mrs. Harry Snell visited last Wednesday with Mrs. Percy Bartlett at Thamesford. Mrs. Alma Hess, and Mrs. Grace McEwen visited over the weekend with relatives in Watford. 2 lbs.
