Bourne scored the first goal of the period and came back with the last two to complete his scoring quartet. Glenn Neal scored the in-between goal. Gary Grant picked up a pair of second period assists with Morley Fraser adding one. In the final period, Bill Chipchase and Gary Grant each scored twice for the Crediton club with Paul Young firing the fifth successful shot, Captain Dennis Morrissey picked up three assists in the last period on the goals by Chipchase and Young. The game scoring opened at 9.57 of the opening period with veteran defenceman Don Urbshott blasting a slap shot into the top left corner of the Fergus net past former Kitchener junior goalie Jim Weber. The Fergus club tied things up for a short while on Fred Kauk's score about two minutes later. Proctor scored his first of the night at 13:26 to put his club ahead to stay as he tipped in another blue line shot by Urbshott. Jamie Robb started the scoring play. The second period wasn't a minute old when Bill White scored what proved to be the winner on a play started by Dick Doughty and Ron Cauduro. Two minutes later Proctor was back on the scoreboard as he completed a successful play with the high flying Jamie Robb. At the halfway mark of the middle session Walt Parkinson finished off a scoring effort with defenceman Ron Cauduro, The final two goals of the second period came on three-way passing patterns. Barry Irwin notched the first with help from Doughty and Cauduro while Doug Galloway finished off his goal with the help of line-mates Jacques Cousineau and Steve Storey. Cousineau was filling in on this line at centre for playing coach Jack Nairn who was not in uniform. The final Fergus scoring play came early in the closing frame with Doug Wiltsie hitting the mark with the Jets playing a man short. ' Barry Irwin fired his second goal of the night at 10:16 when he tipped Bob Lashbrook's drive from the right point. It was Bill White from Dick Doughty four minutes later and in the last minute of play in the game Steve Proctor and White fired shots that found the mark. Jamie Robb and Steve Storey assisted on the second last goal and Doughty and Cauduro helped on the final score of the lopsided contest. The jets took six of the eleven penalties called with majors going to Bill White and Barry Irwin. The Tigers now have two wins in three league starts. They travel to Clinton to-night, Thursday to do battle with the Clinton Colts and will be back at the Huron Park arena, Sunday night at 8:30 for a return game with the same club. Terry Bourne was the top Tiger forward with a four goal effort for his night's work. Bourne scored his first at 4:37 of the opening • period only seconds after Bob Buettenmiller had put the Beavers out in front. Bill Chipchase put the Crediton club ahead to stay at 11.56 of the period with Glenn Neal assisting. The Tigers scored Newby Tire chalked up three of a possible four points during the past week to take over undisputed possession of first place in the Exeter and district Rec hockey league. The Tiremen downed the Dashwood Tigers 4-1 Thursday night and played to a 5.5 draw with the Bank Boys in Monday's only action. The Newby club has a seven point total with Dashwood and Huron Park tied for second with four points apiece and the Bank Boys follow with three points. The fifth club in the league, the Juveniles are winless in four starts. In the third game of the week Huron Park trounced the Juveniles 12-1. Ian McCallum was the big gun for the Huron Park ,Plugs, scoring five times. Larry Brintnell was close behind in the scoring parade with a hat trick performance. Single goal scorers for Huron Park were Bob Lammie, Rick Funston, Larry Brintnell and Don Cooper. The lone Juvenile marker was notched by playing coach Larry Stire. In the Newby Tire win over Dashwood, Tom Watt was the top scorer with a two goal effort with singles being fired by Mike Cushman and Jim MacDonald. The lone Dashwood counter came from the stick of Ron Hartman. Mike Cushman was a double scorer for the Tiremen as they battled to the 5-5 draw with the Bank Boys. Notching single scores were Jack Glover, Jim MacDonald and Terry Hillman.
