In every way Branch 540 is
growing and a true sign of an
active branch is their versatility
to change with the changing
times. We are happy to say your
branch has a program geared to
satisfy both the young and the
young in heart, sports of all
kinds, dances, friendship and
companionship.
We are also growing in stature
with our community youth
sponsored programs; hockey,
baseball, Essay Contests, Public
Speaking and our Ladies
Auxiliary Figure Skating
Instruction. We are also growing
in membership. In the past
couple of years Branch 540 has
doubled its members and we are
still adding to our numbers.
The magic number is 100, we
now have 96 members and I am
informed there is some very
special recognition in line for
Number 100 . It could be You,
Comrade . Go Active - join the
lively guys at Branch 540 where
the action is.
Our Early Bird Campaign is
paying off, Comrades, 32.64% of
our membership is paid up for
1971. How about you, are you an
Early Bird? It's something to
"crow" about . Have the Early
Bird Insignia placed beside your
name on the chart in the Sea,
Land & Air Lounge. Get in on
the free draw for all "Early
Birds" Dec. 31/70. If you pay
your 1971 dues now it will be one
less New Year's Resolution to
make.
Zone A5 Sports has started,
Comrades. This Friday,
November 27 is llderton at
Lucan. Come on over and join in
on the fun and games. We can
always find room for one more.
Games will be Cribbage, Euchre,
Darts and Shuffleboard. There
are no experts or professionals at
Branch 540. We just attend and
play for the sport and
comradeship.
Remember the day and make
it a date to meet your visiting
comrades at Branch 540. While
on the subject of Sports - don't
forget Mixed Branch Sports is
every Tuesday night. Remember
the date and bring your Sweetie
over to Branch 540 and do your
thing. It's where everyone
gathers. By the way, Comrades,
the New Sports Shirts have
arrived. If you ordered one, see
the Sports Officer, Gord Elson.
Our teams will sure look sharp!
What are you doing
Saturday? Come. Come. now.
Why that's Grey Cup Day . For
your information the Grey Cup
fever has hit Branch 540 and this
is where the gang will be during
the game. Our colour set has
been adjusted and placed at a
vantage point where we can all
watch and enjoy the game
together. See you there,
Comrades and if your Lady likes
football, by all means bring her
with you. Come early, tho', we
expect a crowd.
Comrade Pat Grudge,
Branch 540's New Years' Eve
Dance Chairman advises plans
are almost complete for the best
dance ever. The floor plan has
been posted in the Sea, Land &
Air Lounge. Admission will be
by reservation only. Drop over
to Branch 540 now and pick out
and reserve your table now. To
avoid disappointment, do it now.
If I remember right, tables have
been set for 50 couples and
about half have been reserved
already. When you have made
