By making minor changes in
school hours, thereby enabling
some school buses to make
double runs, the Middlesex
County Board of Education has
cut $11,000 from its annual
transportation costs.
This was reported to the Board
at its regular meeting on Monday
night.
A further reduction of $14,000
is expected in the near future.
Other double runs to be
implemented by January, 1971
will bring total annual savings to
Cut bus transportation costs
more than $100,000 in the
Board's million dollar
transportation budget.
Looking to the future, the
Board approved a tentative
Five-Year Forecast of class room
needs. Top priority was given to
million-and-a-half dollar
additions to North Middlesex
District High School at Parkhill
and Medway High School at Arva.
These will be needed for use in
September, 1972. -
The forecast also calls for a
four-room addition to Strathroy
District Collegiate Institute in
1972 and a new four million dollar
secondary school to serve the
Lambeth-Delaware area in 1974.
All projects are subject to
approval by the department of
education.
In other business, the board
went on record as supporting the
establishment in the area of an
educational television studio and
transmitter by the Ontario

Authority.
The board also adopted a
