Too many men and

because they don't look
after themselves on

The secret is to
work defensively.
Sharpen your
self-defence — it pays off.

tendencies in their home opener
of the Ontario Hockey
Association Intermediate "B"
season at the Huron Park arena,
Sunday afternoon.
The Jets won their second

drubbing the Acton Tanners by a
score of 11-0. They opened the

with the Jets. The L-I club will be
on the road Sunday afternoon as
they meet the same club back in

hitting the scoreboard Sunday as
they scored five times in the first
period to take a commanding
lead. They scored two more goals
in the middle stanza and closed
with a four goal effort in the final
20 minutes of play.
In the first period, five
members of the Jets shared in the
scoring. Captain Doug Galloway
started things off on a three-way
passing effort with line-mates
Jack Nairn and Steve Storey at

Near the three-quarter mark of
the period, veteran defenceman
Don Urbshott scored on a hard
shot from the right point.
In the next three minutes the
Jet supporters had a chance to
cheer on three occasions. Jamie
Robb fired the third goal on a
play set up by Jacques Cousineau
and Steve Proctor.
Barry Irwin finished off the
next passing play started by Larry
Willert and Bob Lashbrook. With

Blow the whistles, bring out
the Band, Run up the flag, our
beautiful Irish Six are starting to
move.
With three straight wins, both
players, executive and the Lucan
fans are getting excited. Before
we go any further I think the
Lucan fans are the greatest in the
league, showing up at every game
in greater numbers and shouting
themselves hoarse in an effort to
make their team winners.
Wednesday, Lucan beat the
Zurich-Hensall Co-Ops by a 4-2
score before the largest and most
enthusiastic crowd of the season.
Allan Kraul was the top scorer
with two goals and an assist.
Kraul who last year saw limited
,action as a midget, this year is
coming on strong. Tom Hodgins
and Jim Hearn added the other
goals.
Lucan sent 14 players to the
penalty box while the Co-Ops
picked up only seven minors. Ron
Oesch and Doug Coxon scored
for the losers. John McKinley
assisted on both efforts. The Irish
out shot the Co-Ops 42-31. Bruce
Maslen was in goal.
Saturday night, 19-year-old
Jack Bradley who last year was
with Komoka, picked up his first
hat trick of the season, leading
the fighting Irish to a 7-4 victory
over the Belmont Sunsets.
Dave Revington, Tom
Hodgins, Jim Hearn and Jeff
Craig each scored once for the
Irish.
Joe Arnold started in the nets
but was lifted in favour of Maslen
in the second period. For
Belmont, Ed Landon scored two
goals with Bob Logan and John
Willsie getting one each. Lucan
led as usual in penalties getting 14
to Belmont's 9.
At the end of the first period
the Irish led 3-2. In the second
period the teams traded goals,
one each with Lucan outscoring
the home team 3.2 in the final .
twenty minutes.
The Irish seem to have
straighened out some of their
early season problems. Coach Bill
Neil though happy with the wins,
reels that his players are not yet
playing up to their potential and
thinks that his team have to put
more effort into their defensive
play

,
big thanks to the fan who
was concerned enough to write a
letter to the Editor of this paper
re the team's efforts up to this
point.
It is hoped that the improved
performance of the club has
restored some of this confidence
in the coach and executive. It
might be well at this time to
publish the names of the
executive who are doing the
paper' work for the Fighting Irish.
They are President, Tom
England; Secretary, Keith Kraul
and. Bob Anderson the club's

Terry Wade and Mike Lynn
were the Crediton goal getters in
the first period while Ian
McCallum replied for Huron
Park.
In the middle session, Paul

for Crediton with Larry Brintnell
getting the Plugs marker.
Ian McCallum scored twice in
the first four minutes of the third
period to complete a hat trick for
himself and put the clubs on even
terms on the scoreboard.
