The November meeting of
Dashwood W.I. was held
November 3 with the Agriculture
and Canadian Industries group in
charge of the program and lunch.
Mrs. Emil Becker was convener.
Roll call was answered by
giving the name of a favourite
fruit or vegetable.
As the guest speaker was
unable to attend the evening was
spent playing cards. Prizes were
awarded to: the highest, Mrs.
Howard Maier; lowest, Mrs.
Martha Miller.
During the lunch hour Mrs.
Earl Keller received a prize for the
lucky cup. A skit, Pollution
Expulsion, was presented by Mrs.
Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Bill Becker, and
Mrs. Irvin Rader.
The president, Mrs. Howard
Maier dealt with the business. A
letter of thanks was read from the
Red Cross thanking the W.I. for
their successful canvass.
Achievement Day is December 12
in South Huron High School for
the 4-H girls. Mrs. Gordon Bender
was named delegate for the
London Area convention with
Mrs. Maier alternate.
It was decided to ask for a tour
of the new Dashwood Industries
plant January 19 and invite the
husbands to be guests. A euchre
party is planned for January 26.
SILVER ANNIVERSARY
Mr. & Mrs. Emil Becker
celebrated their silver
anniversary, Saturday at the
Dashwood Community Centre.

season was held Wednesday night
at Shipka Community Centre
with several tables in play.
Wianers were ladies high, Mrs.
Mary Moser; ladies low, Mrs.
Helen Grieves of Dashwood;
men's high, Lorne Devine; men's
low, Carl Guenther; most lone
hands, Mrs. Shute of Kirkton.
Sympathy is expressed to Mrs.
Jim Dietrich in the recent death
of her grandfather, Joe
Carruthers of Parkhill.
Weekend guests with Mr. &
Mrs. Harold Vincent and Lori,
were Mr. & Mrs. Fred Hoffman of
Barryton Michigan.
Mrs. Mary Maxwell, Steven
and Michael of St. Thomas visited
on the weekend with the
Schroeder family and Bruce
Gibbs.
Terry Pickering and friend are
employed at the L.&M. coal
mines in Estevan Saskatchewan.
Tom Russell of Belle River
spent the weekend at his home
here.
Rodger Ratz and a group of
local hunters spent a few days at
Johnston Harbour at Roy Ratz's
cottage and Rodger came home
with a deer.

An elephant in the Prague Zoo
does his exercises with the help of
a tape recorder. The tape was
recorded in one of the languages
of India, where the elephant was
trained.

Saturday afternoon the parish
hall at St. Patricks Church was
filled with relatives and friends
for a miscellaneous shower for
Joan Anderson of Exeter,
bride-elect of early December,
Mrs. Don Maguire and Mrs.
Leroy Maguire, Mrs. Jim Barker,
Mrs. Hugh Davis and Mrs. Bob
Tindall were hosessses for the
occasion, The hall was tastefully
decorated and Nancy Tindall read
the address, Heather Davis sang,
Mrs. Audrey Gardiner, Exeter,
gave a reading and Margaret
Toonders, Lucan, played two
accordion selections.
Joan Barker Lucan was MC.
The bride-elect was assisted in
opening the many beautiful and
useful gifts by Mrs. Andy Hardy,
Mrs. Leroy Maguire, Joan Barker,
and Carol Eaton. Joan expressed
her appreciation and Mrs.
Anderson invited the ladies to a
trousseau tea at her home Exeter.

Arnold Becker's 35th wedding
anniversary, November 9, they
donated a full length mirror to
the vestry of Zion Lutheran
church and are having the
collection plates refinished.
Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Rader have
returned home from a trip to
Calgary, Alberta, where they
visited with Pastor and Mrs.
Arthur Rader and baby Marc.
Brian Rader spent two weeks
with Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Rader
and Michael.
Valentine Becker flew out to
Roblin, Manitoba, to attend the
wedding of Reginald Becker and
Karen Cross. He visited with the
groom's parents Mr. & Mrs. Alvin
Recker and other relatives.
