IRVIN RADER DASH WOOD The November meeting of Dashwood W.I. was held November 3 with the Agriculture and Canadian Industries group in charge of the program and lunch. Mrs. Emil Becker was convener. Roll call was answered by giving the name of a favourite fruit or vegetable. As the guest speaker was unable to attend the evening was spent playing cards. Prizes were awarded to: the highest, Mrs. Howard Maier; lowest, Mrs. Martha Miller. During the lunch hour Mrs. Earl Keller received a prize for the lucky cup. A skit, Pollution Expulsion, was presented by Mrs. Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Bill Becker, and Mrs. Irvin Rader. The president, Mrs. Howard Maier dealt with the business. A letter of thanks was read from the Red Cross thanking the W.I. for their successful canvass. Achievement Day is December 12 in South Huron High School for the 4-H girls. Mrs. Gordon Bender was named delegate for the London Area convention with Mrs. Maier alternate. It was decided to ask for a tour of the new Dashwood Industries plant January 19 and invite the husbands to be guests. A euchre party is planned for January 26. SILVER ANNIVERSARY Mr. & Mrs. Emil Becker celebrated their silver anniversary, Saturday at the Dashwood Community Centre. Attendants present were Mrs. Howard Simmons, Kitchener, Mrs. Fred Morlock, Waterloo, Mrs. Clarence Kimpel, Kitchener, Mrs. Harold Burgin, Kirkton, Keith Fraser and Peter Simpson, Shipka folk start euchre By MRS. HUGH MORENZ The first euchre party of this season was held Wednesday night at Shipka Community Centre with several tables in play. Wianers were ladies high, Mrs. Mary Moser; ladies low, Mrs. Helen Grieves of Dashwood; men's high, Lorne Devine; men's low, Carl Guenther; most lone hands, Mrs. Shute of Kirkton. Sympathy is expressed to Mrs. Jim Dietrich in the recent death of her grandfather, Joe Carruthers of Parkhill. Weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Vincent and Lori, were Mr. & Mrs. Fred Hoffman of Barryton Michigan. Mrs. Mary Maxwell, Steven and Michael of St. Thomas visited on the weekend with the Schroeder family and Bruce Gibbs. Terry Pickering and friend are employed at the L.&M. coal mines in Estevan Saskatchewan. Tom Russell of Belle River spent the weekend at his home here. Rodger Ratz and a group of local hunters spent a few days at Johnston Harbour at Roy Ratz's cottage and Rodger came home with a deer. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Wood and family visited Mr. & Mrs. Willis Desjardine, Sunday. Sunday supper guests with the Schroeder's to celebrate Dennis' 3rd birthday were Mr. & Mrs. Archie Webber, Daryl and David, Mr. & Mrs. Don Case, Allan, Peter and Jo-Anne, all of Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Art Meininger and Mr. & Mrs. H. Morenz. Mrs. Mabel Desjardine spent Sunday with her son and family. Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Desjardine, Lee, Harvey and Carleen of Hensall when they celebrated Mrs. Desjardine's 74th birthday and Carleen's 7th. Mr. John Smith, Iris & Tena, and Mrs. Florence Smith all of Palmerston spent the weekend with Mrs. Ruby Little, Douglas and Wilmar Smith of Greenway. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Wray Sweitzer were Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Brintnell, Terri and Scott, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Smith, all of Woodham, Mr. & Mrs. Don Dundasof Crediton, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Sweitzer, Sherri & Ronnie of Stratford. An elephant in the Prague Zoo does his exercises with the help of a tape recorder. The tape was recorded in one of the languages of India, where the elephant was trained. By MRS. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY Saturday afternoon the parish hall at St. Patricks Church was filled with relatives and friends for a miscellaneous shower for Joan Anderson of Exeter, bride-elect of early December, Mrs. Don Maguire and Mrs. Leroy Maguire, Mrs. Jim Barker, Mrs. Hugh Davis and Mrs. Bob Tindall were hosessses for the occasion, The hall was tastefully decorated and Nancy Tindall read the address, Heather Davis sang, Mrs. Audrey Gardiner, Exeter, gave a reading and Margaret Toonders, Lucan, played two accordion selections. Joan Barker Lucan was MC. The bride-elect was assisted in opening the many beautiful and useful gifts by Mrs. Andy Hardy, Mrs. Leroy Maguire, Joan Barker, and Carol Eaton. Joan expressed her appreciation and Mrs. Anderson invited the ladies to a trousseau tea at her home Exeter. December 5. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Maurice MacDonald, Grand Bend and Mr. & Mrs. Harry Noels, Forest, were Saturday evening guests with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Dobbs and W.I., Mrs. Howard Maier, Mrs. Martha Miller, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, and Mrs. Irvin Rader accepted. the invitation from Zurich W.T. to take the short course, Accessories for the Home, last Tuesday and Wednesday. On the occasion of Mr. &Mrs, children attended the Guelph General Hospital Alumnae Home coming Friday evening and spent the weekend with their friends, Mr. & Mrs. Robt. Mogk, Janet and John. Mr. & Mrs. Ron Carroll and children spent Sunday with their cousin Mr. Bill Lambourne, London. Mrs. Hugh Davis entertained several relatives to dinner at her home Wednesday. Those present were her mother, Mrs. George McFalls, Centralia, her aunts, Mrs. Rose McFalls, London, and Mrs. Ethel McFalls, Exeter, and Mrs. Bill Quinton, London, Mrs. Bob Lilley, Komoka and Mrs. Phil Johnson Glanworth. Sunday evening Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis, Heather and Michael entertained Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hoffman and Jim, Dashwood and Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis. Heather was observing her birthday. Monday, Nrs. Hugh Davis accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Simpson and Mrs. George McFalls to Flint, Michigan, where Mrs. McFalls plans to spend a couple of weeks. Heber Davis, lay delegate represented St. Patrick's Church at the election of the bishop, held in St. Pauls Cathedral, London. Arnold Becker's 35th wedding anniversary, November 9, they donated a full length mirror to the vestry of Zion Lutheran church and are having the collection plates refinished. Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Rader have returned home from a trip to Calgary, Alberta, where they visited with Pastor and Mrs. Arthur Rader and baby Marc. Brian Rader spent two weeks with Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Rader and Michael. Valentine Becker flew out to Roblin, Manitoba, to attend the wedding of Reginald Becker and Karen Cross. He visited with the groom's parents Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Recker and other relatives. Miss Iris Becker and friend of Peterborough spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. V. L. Becker and family. Mr, & Mrs. Richard Rader of Goderich were visitors Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Alphonse Grenier, Mrs. Irvin Rader spent Friday afternoon with her sister, Mrs. Wellwood Gill of Grand Bend. Irvin Rader, Jim and Lawrence Becker were among a group of hunters who bagged seven deer in the Parry Sound district last week. A number of Lutheran Young People, members from Zion Lutheran church attended the Lutheran Young People's Rally, St. Peter's Lutheran church, Stratford , last Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Ross Love attended the wedding of Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Gill's daughter, Janice, and Lee McCutcheon at Robinson Memorial United Church, London, Saturday.
