TEMPLEMAN Achievement Day for the 4.H Homemaking club project, Working With Wool, was held in the Mitchell District High School, November 7. Staffa No. 1 girls under the leadership of Mrs. Spencer Jeffery and Mrs. Bill Butson set up a exhibit, Choosing the Skirt, with Mary Jane Templeman as commentator. Staffa No. 2 girls under the leadership of Mrs. Charles Douglas and Mrs. John Wallace presented a demonstration, New Life for the Old Skirt with Marilyn Laing, Cheryl Riley and Valerie McPhail participating. Staffa No. 3 girls under the leadership of Mrs. Leslie Waddell and Mrs. Ross Balfour had an exhibit, Choosing a Skirt, with Barbara Roney as commentator. Among those receiving county honours were Dianne Miller, Staffa No. 1; Barbara Roney and Donna Waddell, Staffa No. 3. TRAINING SCHOOL The first class of the training school, Working With Knits, was held in the township hall Wednesday evening with Mrs. Carter Kerslake and Mrs. Jo Van Valkengoed as leaders. Over 30 interested ladies were present to learn the proper way of cutting and sewing the new knit fabrics. Mrs. Jo Van Valkengoed and Mrs. Charles Douglas greeted guests from Seaforth Women's Institute, their husbands and friends and local 4-H leaders and their husbands, The president Mrs. Ed Chappel opened the evening with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart collect. Roll call, Where We Went on Our Honeymoon, was answered by many of the men present. -Mr. and Mrs. Daynard had enjoyed a motor trip through Europe in the summer and Mrs. Daynard showed pictures of their travels through Poland and Russia while Mr. Daynard commented and answered questions. Mrs. Charles Douglas gave the courtesy remarks. Mrs. Ross Smale lead in a singsong and Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. Van Valkengoed conducted a contest. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Worden returned home Friday from a holiday in the Southern states. Mary Barnes, Western, and Darlene Templeman, Waterloo, attended commencement exercises at Mitchell District High School and spent the weekend with their families.
