Irish juniors drop
three games in OHA
By.CLARE STANLEY
The fighting Irish had trouble
getting a win last week, losing to
Mitchell on ThurSdaY,. Exeter on
Wednesday and Lambeth, Friday
night,
They managed only eight goals
for and 22 against, once again
pointing out a weakness in the
defensive play of the club as the
forwards continue to skate only
one way and the defence fail to
play aggressive hockey,
On Tuesday, Mitchell took
advantage of home ice by winning
5-4 on goals by Don Hislop and
Glen Nicholson in the first
period, Glen Nicholson and Bob
Carnochan scored in the second
and Jim Powell in the final
session.
Dave Revington and Ken
Needham each scored twice for
the Irish as these .two players
continue to show improvement
each time out. Joe Arnold was a
busy man in goal for Lucan.
Wednesday night the Exeter
Hawks led all the way with
Lucan's only goal coming from
the stick of Tom klodgins, in a
good play assisted by Dennis. A
more detailed account of this
game appears elsewhere on these
pages.

Friday the Lambeth Flyers
humbled the Irish by a 7.3 score
in Lambeth. The star of the game
was Greg Steel with a hat trick for
Lambeth. Jim Macklem scored
twice and Dennis Carty once for
the luckless Irish.
Sunday night the Irish picked
up their second win of the year by
downing the Belmont Sunsets by
a 4.2 score. This game saw the
return of Brad Barclay which
helped the defensive play of the
club.
Jim Macklem scored Lucan's
first goal, then Barclay scored
what proved to be the winning
goal early in the second period,
Jeff Craig and Dave Revington
each added a goal while Ed
Landor and Frank Gray scored
for the Sunsets.
In goal for Lucan was Bruce
Maslen. Bruce has been in goal
for both the Irish wins and could
take over the goaltending duties
for the team as his ability not to
leave loose pucks laying in front
of the goal helped to keep the
Sunsets off the scoresheet.

The Exeter Hawks hold down
first place in the Ontario Hockey
Association Junior "D" Western
grouping as the result of four
consecutive wins in as many
league starts.
The last three Hawk triumphs
were by decisive scores.

point getter with a total of 21.
In Hensall Sunday afternoon,

Score early
Against Tavistock on home
ice, Friday night it was a different
story with the Hawks notching
seven goals in the first period and
then coasting to an easy 13-3
victory.
Ron Linden field was again the
top Hawk marksman with two
goals in each of the first and third
sessions.

from Tavistock.
The Hawks were assessed 23
penalties, all of the minor variety
while Tavistock picked up only
nine minor infractions.
The 10-1 Exeter win over the
Lucan Irish Wednesday night was
the result of a solid effort with
