The "Chief Ghoul" has
requested that I thank all and
sundry for turning out to the
"Ghoulfest" in the Sea, Land and
Air Lounge of 540. It was a
tremendous success. The prize
winners were Pat Crudge of
Lucan and The Hunchback of
Notre Dame (Linda Brown of
London). The comrades are still
wondering who the cute red head
with the masculine voice is.
May be someday Comrade
DeGraw will let us know.
*'fix! *t! There! Now I feel
better — I wish they would make
up their minds. All my life I have
been led to believe that it is a
woman's prerogative to change
her mind. There are some men
who use it to excess and I am
referring to the November 11th
Banquet at Branch 540. I have
now been advised that November
11th will be open house and that
Ladies are definitely welcome.
Now we are all confused. So I will
repeat: "NOVEMBER 11th IS
OPEN HOUSE AND THE
LADIES ARE MOST WELCOME
TO ATTEND"!
Of special importance to our
young orators, I am happy to
advise that at Provincial
Command level the prizes have
been increased considerably, The
Prize list for the Legion Public
Speaking Contest is noted
herewith: Grades 1 to 6, $75.00;
Grades 7-8, $75.00; Grades 9-10,
$150; Grades 11, 12, 13, $500.
With the prizes to be won along
the way at Branch, Zone and
District levels, the winners should
do quite handsomely indeed.
By MRS.
Sunday, Rev. Carson preached
on the devil and the Bible. He
pointed out that the devil is
personal as recorded in both the
old and new scriptures and that
the devil's greatest
accomplishment is his persuading
so many people he doesn't exist.
Mr. Carson said it is our job to be
able to recognize the devil in his
many disguises and be able to deal
with him.
Next Sunday, morning prayer
will be at 12:30 p.m. and the
Sunday School will meet during
the service. Monday, the clergy
and lay delegates of the Diocese
of Huron will meet in St. Paul's
Cathedral to elect a bishop.
UNITED CHURCH
Sunday, Rev. W. Tupling
spoke on The preaching Pew. He
said empty pews preach
carelessness, hopelessness and
safelessness. Occupied pews
preach loyalty, responsibility and
power.

popular request the Country
