guest speaker Sunday morning at
the United Church Women's
Service. She chose for her theme,
New Horizons Of The Church and
challenging the church to
Christian Service.
Music by a sextette from the
ladies UCW choir was
contributed.

Alderdice, presided, assisted by
Mrs. Howard Scene. Mrs. J.
Turkheim was organist and choir
director.

Mrs. Malcolm Davidson;
Brucefield, showed films and
commented on conditions in
India, where Mr. Davidson spent
sometime teaching Agriculture to
a group of 200 boys.
Poverty and malnutrition was
quite prevalent but parents were
eager to have their children
educated. Mrs. Davidson was
thanked by Mrs. D. Triebner and
presented with a gift.
Reports were given on
Citizenship and Education by
Mrs. R. Bell; Home Economics
and Health, Mrs. Grant MacLean;
Agriculture and Canadian
Industries, Mrs. Brodie; Historical
Research and Current Events,
Mrs. Pullman; Sunshine, Mrs.
Wm. Bell; Treasurers Mrs. Harry
Caldwell; Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs.
A. McGregor reported on the
Huron County Rally.
Mrs. R. Kinsman commented
on the motto. "May your life be
like a pathway through the snow,
be careful where you step for
every mark will show."
Area Convention and
Resolutions were read and
Rebekah Lodge, Brussels,
November 10.
Arrangements were finalized
for the Installation of Officers in
November when D.D.P. Mrs. Lois
McFalls and the Installation
Officers of Pride of Huron Lodge,
Exeter will be present.

The first fall meeting of the
Happy Doubles' Club was held
Wednesday evening in the church
basement.
The theme of the meeting was
"Thanksgiving." The call to
worship and meditation was given
by Mrs. William Rohde. Rev.
Stewart Miner led in prayer. A
musical number by Bill and
Rhoda Rohde was enjoyed.
Mr. Miner spoke on Steps
Being Taken Toward Possible
Union of the United, Anglican
and Church of Christ Disciples. A
discussion followed.
Bill Rohde conducted games
and Mr. Miner, contests.

Mrs. Grace Harpole who has
been visiting her granddaughter,
Miss Jarvis Peacock, and grandson
and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Terry
Peacock of Victoria, B.C. has
returned to her home in Hensall.
Mrs. Harpole reports a very
pleasant holiday.
Couple in Haiti
for church work
Richard and Grace Bender,
Tavistock, Ontario, have begun a
two-year assignment in Haiti
under the Mennonite Central
Committee, a church relief and
service agency with an
international program.
Richard is a graduate of the
Rockway Mennonite School,
Kitchener, and his wife graduated
from Stratford General Hospital
School of Nursing where she
received her R. N. degree. He will
be involved in community
development in the Hospital
Albert Schweitzer area and his
wife will be nursing at the
hospital.
Their parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan J. Bender, Tavistock,
Ontario, and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson
Riley, Kippen, Ontario. He is a
member of the Tavistock
Mennonite Church, Tavistock,
Ontario, and his wife is a member
of the Blake Mennonite Church,
Zurich, Ontario.
Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Christian
of Napanee, and Lyle of
Kingston, visited recently with
Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Four carloads of ladies from
Carmel Presbyterian Church
attended the Thankoffering
meeting at First Presbyterian
Church, Seaforth, October 22.

visited last Thursday with Mr. &
Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Mrs. Harold Bonthron is a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
Mrs. Ezra Kipfer is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
The committee in charge of
the local Association of Guides
and Brownies were more than
pleased with the success of the
candy sale held Saturday when
the Guides and Brownies
canvassed the village.
Jim Venner's auction sale held
Saturday was successful, well
attended and with good prices
realized. Lloyd Venner of Hensall
purchased the house. Harold
Jackson of Seaforth was
auctioneer.

Attending the Roman
Catholic Students' Rally at Maple
Leaf Gardens, Sunday, were
