LUCAN
Sunday, in Holy Trinity
Chureh a special Service of
IVIore;ng Prayer was held in
.0h, four clergymen, ordained
40, the priesthood in this church
forty years ago, joined with Rev.
R. A. Carson, the incumbent.
Archbishop A. H. O'Neil lead
the State Prayers, Canon R. C.
lirOwn lead in the Apostles Creed
and took the service to the end
of the third collect. Bishop H. F.
0, Appleyard read the
concluding prayers and gave the
Benediction. The Rev. Dr. M. B.
Parker read the first lesson and
preached the sermon.
In his sermon Dr. Parker said
his thoughts kept coming back
to the 103rd Psalm "Praise the
Lord, 0 my soul; and all that is
within me praise his holy name."
In the sermon Dr. Parker said it
was fortunate that the four men
were alive and well and able to
return to Holy Trinity Church,
He then went on to expand
his theme and pointed out that
inspite of a self-centred,
self-righteous world, the Church,
the elements of truth, love and
righteousness would be
preserved. He said the Church
structure might not be the same
but the basic gifts of God would
endure.
Dr. Parker illustrated his
point by saying the Church is
like a rock but also like a river,
The rock is the truths in the
Church, the river is the Church
reaching out to people, flowing
out to all strata's of society.
Before the concluding hymn
Mr. Carson asked the visitors to
come forward to the Chancel
steps. The Rector's Warden, Don
Ankers, presented each with a
Trinity Church Crest as a
memento of their visit on the
40th year of their ordination.
Each spoke a few words
concerning the feelings they had
when they were ordained and
since.
After the Service the ladies
served tea and coffee in the
Parish Hall. Present was Mrs.
McGown, London, whose
husband was the rector of Holy
Trinity Church when the service
was held there.
Next Sunday, Sunday School
will meet at 9:45 a.m., the choir
will practice at 10 a.m. and the
experimental Holy Communion
Service of the Diocese of
Qu'Appelle will be used. The
hymns for this service will be
folk songs and folk hymns. It is
hoped that electronic equipment
will be available. After the
service the Junior Choir will
practice.

GRAND BEND
An ecumenical Thanksgiving
service was held last Sunday
afternoon in the Mary Ellen
Memorial Chapel at the
Eisenbach Museum in which
local clergy and laymen
participated.
Robert Cameron of Hensall
was organist and special music
was provided by Mrs. R.
McCaffrey and Mrs. Robert
Dinney of Exeter.
The speaker for the service,
The Rev. M. Prieur assistant
priest at Forest and Grand Bend
Churches.
In his remarks he said he felt
a strong spirit of ecumenism in
the Chapel as there were many
signs around the Chapel of the
different sects. Twenty years ago
this spirit would have been
unheard of, he said.
In the closing remarks of the
chairman, Jim Dalton, he
commended Peter Eisenbach on
his contribution to the
community by the erection of
the Mary Ellen Chapel for
ecumenism . Mr. Dalton said,
"One would expect this type of
tribute by Mr. Eisenbach as he is
that kind of person."
