FRED BQWDEN CENTRALIA The Thin Thread of Thanks was the subject chosen by Rev. Wilson for his Thanksgiving message to the congregation which included many visitors in the United Church Sunday morning. During the service the new chimes and plaque in honour of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mitchell, and presented by their family, were dedicated. Mrs. Ken Hodgins was the organist and the chimes were played intermittently throughout the service. PERSONALS Mrs. Marvin Johnson of Fanshawe was a visitor with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bill Johnson, Wednesday afternoon of last week. Thursday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson were his parents and sisters, Mr. & Mrs. J. S. Thompson, Mrs. Roy Robinson of Listowel, and Mrs. Robert McGibbon of Kirkland Lake. Rev. & Mrs. Robert Wilson attended the funeral last week of Mrs. Wilson's sister, the late Mrs. Angus McCormick of Priceville. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Shoebottom were guests at the Lapierre - Shoebottom wedding in London on Saturday. Bill Johnson returned home Sunday following a week's hunting trip at Benny, Ontario. Other hunters in the party were Ron Brown, Eric Carscadden, Don MacGregor, Arnold Firby and Graham Arthur. Mavis, Malcolm and Duncan Urquhart of London spent the weekend with their grandparents, Rev. & Mrs. R. Wilson. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Greb accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Howard Kerslake of Exeter to Doe Lake for the Thanksgiving weekend. Dan Shoebottom, a student at the Sir Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay was a weekend visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Shoebottom. TgiviPLEMAN Staffa No. 1 4.11 Homecoming Club, Staffa Woolies, held the sixth meeting at the home of leader, Mrs. Spencer Jeffery. Eleven girls answered the roll call and Mrs. Jeffery showed the girls the proper way to put a waist band on a skirt and how to do invisible mending and a bound buttonhole. Meeting 7 was held at the home of Mrs. Butson and plans were made for achievement day and the club exhibit. Mrs. Jeffery discussed a proper hem and darning. Mrs. Butson discussed how to care for a wool skirt. PERSONALS Edna and Janet Miller flew to Florida on Saturday for a few days holiday, Bonnie Miller, University of Guelph visited over the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Clifton Miller and Paul. Visiting at the same home Sunday were Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Hunkin, Teeswater and Mrs. Hazel Sadler, Sault-Sainte-Marie, Mrs. Salder is remaining for a week's holiday. With Mr. & Mrs. John Templeman over the weekend were, Darlene Templeman, Waterloo, Joanne Templeman, Exeter, Bob Templeman, Guelph. Joining them for Thanksgiving were, Mr. & Mrs. Dale Martyn and Wanda, Russeldale, David Capling, Mitchell and Alec Scott, Cromarty. Leslie Butson received word last week of the sudden death of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Earl Butson of Lumsden, Saskatchewan. She was the former Beulah Walkom. Also last week he received news of the death of his uncle, Fred Butson, Winnipeg. Mrs. Carter Kerslake and Mrs. Jo Van Valkengold attended the two day leaders training school on "Working with Knits" which was held in Stratford last week. They will be leading a course in the community in November. Anyone interested in taking the course is asked to contact these ladies by Oct. 28.
