86,260 applicants for drivers'
licenses in Missouri flunked
their written tests last year.
Maybe that's the answer to
traffic congestion: give
drivers' tests that no one can
pass!
According to the Federal
Highway Administration, U.S.
motor vehicles move just over
a billion miles a year, with
better than half that mileage
on city streets.
Reflective license plates issued
in 34 states give more than 50
million cars added rear-end
safety.
A bill now pending in Congress
would establish a federal
agency to supervise auto
insurance companies, as the
Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation supervises banks.

MARRIED IN SASKATOON. Wedding vows were exchanged recently
between Patricia Louise McAllister and Harry Vincent Stewart
Prest at Zion Luther Church, Saskatoon, in a ceremony performed by
the Rev. J, P. Prest and the Rev. L. R. Likness. The groom resided in
Lucan from 1945-1960 while his father, Rev. Prest, had a charge there.
MR. AND MRS. LAWRENCE CARTER
Lucan girl marries
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard- Smith,
Lucan and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carter, RR 2
Denfield. The soloist Janis
Freeman, Lucan, was
accompanied by Kathryn
Worthington, Clandeboye.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride chose an elegant
formal white gown of Lagoda,
Venice lace trimmed the empire
waistline ' and three-quarter
sleeves. A cathedral train fell from
the shoulders, and a rose
headpiece held a floor-length veil.
She carried a Bible with yellow
roses.
The maid of honour, Grace
Smith, sister of the bride, and
bridesmaids, Janet Smith and
Pam Carter, sister of the groom,
wore gowns of yellow chiffon,
floor-length, with empire
waistline, and wedding-ring
neckline, with matching
head-dresses of bows. They
carried bouquets of yellow roses
and daisies with moss-green
streamers.
Bob Maslemof Lucan was best
man and the ushers were Greg
Carter, brother of the groom, and
David Smith, brother of the
bride.
A reception was held at the
Lucan Community Centre.
For a trip to Ottawa and
points east, the bride wore a
purple plaid two-piece suit with
black accessories.'
The groom is employed at the
London Psychiatric Hospital and
the bride at the Bank of Montreal,
Dundas and Adelaide, London.
They will make their home at
Duchess Ave., Lucan.
LL.D., Bishop of Fredericton
and Archbishop of Canada
celebrated Holy Communion. He
was assisted by the Right Rev.
H. F. G. Appleyard B.A.,
M.C.D.D., Bishop of Georgian
Bay, Canon R. C, Brown, M.A.,
D.D., Rev. Dr. M. B. Parker,
M.A., 1D.D., and the Incumbent
Rev. R. A. Carson.
After the service, the
congregation gathered in the
basement where each clergyman
spoke a few words. Canon
Brown said it was a moving
experience in this age, one was
close to tears at the thought of
being well and able to get
together. Dr. Parker said it was a
pleasure to be present. Bishop
Appleyard said he was happy to
be able to join with those he'd
been with during a very moving
experience.
Archbishop O'Neil said he
was glad to come home. He
remembered receiving a red bible
in that very room forty odd
years ago. He said the minister
that influenced him to enter the
ministry was the Rev. William
Lowe.
