Resident dies
in hospital
Clarence Parke of Hensall,
passed away Sunday, September
27, 1970 in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London where he had
been a patient for nine weeks.
He was in his 70th year.
Surviving are his wife the
former Mabel Haugh, one son
Kenneth, RR 1 Varna, a
daughter (Betty) Mrs. Mel
Graham, RR 1 Brucefield, five
grandchildren, three
step-daughters, two step-sons
and three step-grandsons.
Public funeral services for the
late Mr. Parke were held
Tuesday from the Bonthron
Funeral Home, conducted by
Rev. Harold Currie, interment in
Bayfie]d Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Henry
Penning, Russell Manson, Roy
McBride, Jim Dinsmore, Melvin
Elliott, John Skea. Honorary
pallbearers were John Consitt,
Edward Lamport, Ed. Hendrick,
Cecil Desjardine, Leonard Erb,
Reinhold Miller, Arnold
McCann, Jack Scotchmer, Ted
Steinbach, Max 'Turnbull and
Mel Webster.

The aunts of Wendy Ford,
bride elect of October held a
miscellaneous shower at the
home of Mrs. Hubert Miller
September 26.
About 36 relatives and
friends were in attendance. The
evening was spent playing
contests, Wendy was the
recipient of many lovely gifts for
which she thanked everyone.

students from Huron Centennial
School went to Stratford to see
"The Merchant of Venice," at
the Shakespearian Festival. They
also visited Art Gallery to see
the painting of Franz Johnson,
one of the Group of Seven.

home, Monday, from South
Huron Hospital Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. Winston Workman
of Exeter, recently visited Mr. &
Mrs. W. L. Mellis,
Elzar Mousseau was admitted
last week to Seaforth
Community Hospital.
The fifth meeting of the
Kipperi Health Seekers was held
on September 25 at Lynn
Alderdice's home. Notes were
taken on burns and poisons and
rescue breathing was
demonstrated.

The Kinette Club of Hensall
met at the home of Mrs. Robert
Caldwell with the vice-president,
Mrs. Caldwell in the chair. Mrs.
Jim Hyde was a guest for the
evening. Three other guests, Mrs.
Jack Bettke, Mrs. Roy Bell and
Mrs. Bevin Bonthron, were
presented with the club by-laws
and Kinette pins.
It was decided to hold a Fall
Rummage Sale, October 30.
Several Kinettes received tabs
for 100% attendance last year.
Set up committees for Ability
Fund (March of Dimes) are:
general chairman, Mrs. John
Baker; recruiting chairman, Mrs.
Harold Knight; supply chairman,
Mrs. John Baker; finance
chairman, Mrs. Ron Wareing.
Mrs. Alvin Pym, Exeter,
showed slides on her trip to
Alaska.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Rowe have
returned home from a pleasant
trip to the British Isles,
Mrs. George Walker is a
patient in South Huron Hospital.
Mrs. Ellen Walker who has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, returned to her
home this week.
Mrs. Florence Joynt who has
been convalescing in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter
following eye surgery in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London was
able to return to her home,
Saturday.

Wesley MacLaren of Toronto
spent last Thursday with Mr. &
Mrs. John Soldan and called on
their cousins, Rev. and Mrs.
Harold Currie.
