Institute was held Wednesday evening with the President, Mrs. Ivan Brock in charge. The program, Home Economics and Health, was convened by Mrs. Jud Dykernan, Roll call was answered by a canning hint. The St. John's Ambulance Course will begin October 8, The Sunshine Pal for Huronview is Miss Lottie Zirk, The fall rally will be held October 5 at Centralia College and mosaic tile crafts will be on display from Elimville Institute, The Fair Committee, Mrs. M. DeJonge, Mrs. Ron Fletcher and Mrs, T. Creery have their exhibition ready for the Institute display at Exeter Fair. It was decided to have Euchre parties again this winter. The motto "Home is a Mother's Kingdom" was presented by Mrs. Squire Herdman. Mrs. Freeman Home gave a piano instrumental and Mrs. Lorne Johns gave a reading. Mrs. Dykeman introduced the Es eaker, Mrs. Tom Pridham of xeter who spoke on and displayed her hobby of Stamp Collecting. Lunch was served at the close by Mrs. Creery, Mrs. Clayburn, Mrs. Horne and Mrs. Campbell. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Howard Pym attended the Brown — Lobb wedding Friday at Centralia United Church. Mrs. Pym was the soloist. Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Schneider of Caldwell, New Jersey visited with relatives last week, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bell, Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Cooper and Mr. & Mrs. Ross Skinner and families. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Coates, Judith and Cathy of Exeter visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Squire Herdman. Bert Lobb of Clinton isvisiting a few days with Mr. & Mrs. Howard Pym and family. The Elimville Community held a Bridal Shower at the church basement, Saturday evening for Ethel Miner, daughter of Rev. & Mrs. Miner. The bride was presented with a quilt and a gift of money. The Huron County Library books will be exchanged at Elimville, September 28. Sharon Batten, Lois Johns, Janice Johns and Joyce Kerslake attended the Girls' Softball bowling party in Exeter, Sunday afternoon and later returned to Whalen Community Centre for a barbecue. Brenda Skinner entertained 40 young people at a party on Saturday evening. They also celebrated the birthday of Craig Webber. Next Sunday, Thanksgiving service will be held at St. Patrick's Church at 11:00 a.m. The rector, Rev. Rokeby-Thomas, will be in charge. available to babies in the area that will be competing in the annual baby show being held Friday night in conjunction with the Exeter Fall Fair. The baby show will open the Friday night show and is again expected to draw a record number of entries. Babies from one month to a year old will have a chance to compete for the many prizes being donated. Classes have been arranged for babies from one month to four months, little ones aged five months to eight months and toddlers from nine to twelve months. There will also be a special grouping for twins. Last year about 45 mothers and babies entered the contest which provides valuable prizes for the tops in each class. Entries for the baby show must be in the hands of the fair secretary Garnet Hicks by Friday noon, September 25. Additional prizes for the beauty contest and baby show in addition to the top two awards for the beauty queen are being donated by Beth's Hair Styling, Modern Beauty Salon, Silhouette Hair Fashions, Marjorie Dilkes' Hairdressing, Mary Helen's Hair Styling, Cathy's Beauty Lounge, Jack Smith Jeweller, Wilson's Jewellery and Gifts, Brady Cleaners, Midtown Cleaners and Grand Bend Cleaners and Launderers. BY MRS. IRVIN RADER DA$HWOOD The September meeting of the Calvary United Church Women was held September 15 with Mrs. Hugh Boyle as chairlady. She opened the meeting and Mrs. Ken McCrae, convener, accompanied soloist Mrs. Jack Gaiser, as she sang "Up, Up with People." The scripture was a responsive reading. Mrs. Boyle gave a reading on the Closeness of Family Life. The new United Church creed was read with everyone replying responsively. Mary Lou Grigg favoured with several selections on her guitar. The film, "Beyond LSD" gave new insight into the problems faced today. Carl Oestreicher presented the women with a tape recorder in memory of Glenna's active participation in the group. A minute of silence was observed in her memory followed by a prayer by the president, Mrs. Don Gaiser. An invitation to attend the November meeting at Zion United Church, Crediton, was accepted. 4-H Club No. II of the 4-H girls met September 15 with 12 present with leaders Cora VanRaay and Mrs. Earl Keller. Election of officers was held: president, Teresa Holubowicz, vice-president, Nancy Braid; secretary, Janice Hayter; press reporter, Sharon Rader. The project was .discussed and notes given on keeping mentally fit, PERSONALS. Mrs. Bruce Guy is .a patient in. St. Joseph's Hospital, London, where she underwent surgery, Mrs. Gerald Martene and new baby have returned home from London Hospital.
