MAIN ST, 235-1100 EXETER FRI., SEPT. 25 and SAT., SEPT. 26 prepare for fair A „busy time Man. Y houses in the Exeter area have been bustling with activity as exhibitors prepared to show their wares at the Annual Fair this weekend, The enthusiasm of exhibitors knows no bounds, and much of the success of the local fair depends on the quantity and the quality of their work, The monetary value of the prizes is not great and this Cannot be the main reason behind their zeal for exhibiting. Friendly ,competition, pride in their work and produce, a desire to share their hobbies and talents with others are some of the reasons they give for showing. One eager lady exhibitor said, "If my exhibiting will encourage someone else to show, or interest someone in my hobby it's worth all the effort of going to the Fair." And it does take effort. Hours of time go into the many beautiful quilts, the intricate sewing and liquid embroidery that . women will bring to the Fair, Much loving care goes into the growing of flowers, fruits and vegetables that the public Will view on Saturday. Testing and baking of many recipes will be done before the `right' one is prepared for competition and sometimes years of skillful training lies behind the many arts and crafts on display. It is to the credit of the exhibitors that the handicrafts, the work and the animals are displayed for the public who might not otherwise know what is being produced in this district. But, there are other unsung heroes of fall fairs. These are the loving husbands who cart their wives' exhibits in and out of the buildings, One man, whose wife is an ardent fair exhibitor and has competed in several other fairs in Huron County this fall said wearily, "I'll be glad when the fairs are over. I'm completely worn out from loading and unloading all those boxes. Bless him! Mr. & Mrs. Wilfrid McLean had a miscellaneous shower for Sharon Poulton, a bride-elect of Saturday, to Dan McLean.
