Members of the Irving Lodge No. 154 of the Masonic Order ANGLICAN Sunday morning service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church was in the charge of Rev. R. A. Carson. His sermon was entitled, The Case against Parental Delinquency. Holy baptism was performed for Heather Gayle Alce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Alce of Gran ton, Next Sunday, Harvest Festival service will be held, at the regular time and Sunday School, nursery and League of Loyalty will be held as usual. At the recent meeting of the Women's Guild it was decided to hold the Annual Hot Turkey Supper, October 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. The annual bazaar will be held November 27. The Board of Management will meet Monday at 8 p.m. in Carlisle Hall. Tupling. Members of Irving Lodge No. 154 of the Masonic Order were guests at the service. Clare Stanley, as their representative read the first lesson. Mr. Tupling'ssermon was entitled, "The Unity of Christian Brotherhood", Sunday, October 4, World-Wide Communion will be observed and October 11 will be Thanksgiving Sunday. ST' PATRICK'S CWL Members of St. Patrick's CWL held their regular monthly meeting in the Mini Hall with 25 members present. Plans were made for the fall bazaar which will be held October 16, in Lucan arena. Mrs. Leo Morkin will be in charge of the draw tickets. Rev. Fr. McGraw was present and spoke to the ladies about Co-operation and Involvement. The door prize was won by Mrs. Pat Crunican. Former Lucanites at birthday party Last Sunday, Archdeacon and Mrs. C. W. Foreman of London held a birthday dinner at the Grosvenor Gate, in honour of Miss Nellie Foreman, sister of the former. Following the dinner all were taken to the Foreman home for ice cream and birthday cake. Of the nine guests present, seven were former Lucanites. Mrs. C. T. MacFarlane, Miss Nellie Foreman, Miss Jean Ross and Miss Lina Abbott from the McCormick Home and Mrs. Ernest Jennings, Mrs. Kenneth McGowan and Miss Holly Martin of London. The afternoon was spent with many reminiscences of the Coursey Road, Lucan schooldays and the Donnelly murders. course was discussed and it was agreed to send the vice-president Mrs. Ron Crozier, to. In the same letter it would be mentioned that the litter on the streets is most unsightly. The President, Mrs. Frances Saward, then turned the meeting over to Mrs. Revington, who gave an interesting talk on the meaning of Public Relations, and the founding of farm women's groups. She explained how to become a pen-letter friend with someone in another country by application to the A.C.W.W. A contest, prepared by a former member, Miss Lina Abbott, and conducted by Mrs. Revington was much enjoyed. Members then participated in the Swap Shop. Mrs: Harold Snelgrove reported that there were 12 girls taking the 4-H course, Bedroom Accessories. Refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Revington, assisted by Mrs. Cec. Robb. Last Wednesday Mr. & Mrs. Allen Hodgins of Chilliwack, B.C. and Arnold Hodgins of Lucan called on Miss Lina Abbott, and in the evening Clinton Thompson of London, formerly of Lucan visited her. Mr. Thompson is at present on the staff of the London South Secondary School. Mr. & Mrs. Alma Darling visited Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Armitage last Sunday evening. Rev. R. A. Carson called on former Lucanites in the McCormick Home, Monday. Mrs. Alma Price, who has been a resident in Lucan for nearly nine years, entered the McCormick Home, last Tuesday. Her room number is 117 D. She is the fifth Lucanite in the home. Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Powers, formerly of Lucan celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary quietly in St. Mary's Hospital where they are both residents. Mrs. Bob Coleman visited her brother Alf Dickens and Mrs. Lorne McFalls, her sister, in London and found them both a little improved in health. Rev. Prest's daughter was married in Saskatoon. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Jones of Richmond Hill visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Coughlin and Mrs. Earl Young. Duchene officiated at a double-ring marriage ceremony for Mary Ann Hoevenaars and Thomas Patrick McTLhaueghb Ili% is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Francis Hoevenaars, London, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Anna McLaughlin, and the late William McLaughlin, London, formerly of Lucan. Given in Marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of Lagoda crepe and French ribbon lace made with cowl neckline, slightly belled sleeves, empire waist-line and detachable chapel train. Her tiered fingertip veil of silk illusion was caught to a mohair bow headdress, trimmed with lilyaof-the-valley, and she carried a cascade of red and white roses. The maid of honour, Anna Zajo,of LOndon, wore a floor-length, pink cehiffon dress, with embroidery at the waist and sleeves, and matching headdress. She carried a bouquet of pink and white munis. Doug Cassino was best man and Casey Hoevenaars brotherof the bride, and Gord Young were ushers, all of London. A reception was held at the bride's parents' home. For a trip to Washington the bride wore a pink ernbroidered dress and coat ensemble with black patent accessories. St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church was the setting when Kathleen Rowena Mcllhargey exchanged marriage vows with James Victor Blackett of London, before Rev. F. J. Bricklin. • The bride is the daughter of Mrs. William F. Mcllhargey, Lucan, and the late Mr. Mcllhargey, and the groom is the Auxiliary sponors figure skaters The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Lucan Branch of the Canadian Legion decided at their meeting last week to sponsor the Figure Skating Course at the Lucan Arena for the 9th consecutive year. The instructress will again be Miss Maggie Salter and classes will start in November. The Sports' Officer appointed for the 1970-71 season was Mrs. Doug Ewen. The mystery prize was won by Mrs. Gerald Lewis. Ripley spent the 'weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Robb. Bride-elect is showered Five miscellaneous showers were given to Marylin Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Smith of Market Street, prior to her marriage to Lawrence Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carter, RR 2 Denfield, which will take place September 26 at Lucan United Church. Mrs. David Turner of Varna and Mrs. Larry Jones, Exeter, were co-hostesses at a shower held on behalf of her girl friends at the home of Don Abbott of Lucan, Mrs. Turner's father; girl employees of the Bank of Montreal, Dundas and Adelaide, at the home of the hostess, Mrs. Gary Marshall; Mrs. Lorne Hodgins, Lucan, and Mrs. Larry Jones, Exeter, co-hostesses at the latter's home, entertained relatives of the bride-elect, aunts of the bride-elect, Mrs. Larry Cronyn and Mrs. Gerald Campbell were co-hostesses at the home of the latter; and friends of the bride-elect, at the home of Mrs. Don Riley in Lucan, when Mrs, Riley and Mrs. Hickson, sisters of the bride were co-hostesses, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Blackett of London. Bridal attendants were Lucille Condon, maid of honor and Mary Whibbs, bridesmaid. Nieces of the bride, Lori Anne Keogh and Mary Colleen Foran were flowergirls. Lawrence Grace was groomsman and the ushers were Ronald Woermke and Joseph Mcllhargey. The soloist was Mrs. Gayle Loveless. After a wedding reception at the Lucan Community Memorial Centre the couple travelled to the Northern States. They are now residing in London. Tupling officiating at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. David Kestle, Clandeboye, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Clifford Skinner and the late Mr. Skinner, Crediton. The lovely bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of rich ivory satin with matching train. Long sleeves were buttoned and finished with the same lace that bordered the hemline. A lace yoke and sprinkled appliques complemented the gown. A three tiered veil was held by a Camelot style hat covered with matching satin. She carried tiny yellow roses. The maid of honor, Mrs. David Newman, wore a mauve dress with matching picture hat. The bridesmaids, Jennifer Strapp and Irene Opaysky wore yellow and green dresses respectively with matching hats. They all carried bouquets of mums to match their dresses. Janis Kestle was junior bridesmaid in a charming pant dress outfit of white and mauve Swiss dot. Ted Skinner acted as groomsman while John Brierly and Thomas Kestle ushered the guests. Infant girl passes away Catherine Elizabeth Hamilton, born September 14, 1970, daughter of Gerald and Teresa (Korevaar) Hamilton, died September 15. Besides her parents she is survived by a brother, Ian, at home and grandparents Mrs. Roy Hamilton, Exeter and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Korevaar of RR 1 Lucan. The committal service was performed by Rev. Thomas Ristine of Trinity Lutheran Church, London, Thursday, Interment in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
