With fifteen birds in the show, Van Dorsselaer brought home ten first place red ribbons. About five hundred budgies and canaries from many parts of Ontario and Quebec were entered in the large show. Special anthems were given by the choir composed of eighteen young ladies of the church,. Ailsa Craig and Carlisle United Churches attended for the service. 4 -H selects new officers Steer This Way Seven years ago, the Dashwood man started into the small bird business with eight , pair and his bird population at the moment is well over four hundred. In addition to canaries and budgies he has lovebirds, finches and cockateel, Baby birds are being hatched at the Dashwood aviary every day, The mother budgies lay eggs two days apart and it takes eighteen days until hatching time. Van Dorsselaer says on some rare occasions a bird will lay it's ninth egg at the time the first baby is being hatched. At least two hours each night and many hours on the weekend is required to look after the large flock of birds. They consume about one hundred pounds of bird seed each week. By MRS. Large crowd at Clandeboye auction sale of antiques 4 Most of the items brought top prices from dealers and private collectors who attended the sale which did not conclude until 8:30 p.m. The McFalls'only daughter is Mrs. Clayton Haskett, St. Thomas. which they both loved. Mr. McFalls died in 1964 and his wife passed away this year. Two auctioneers, Gord Meeko of St. Thomas, and Jack Heywood of London, sold the array of china, glass, crockery, kitchen utensils, as well as many pieces of fine antique furniture. By MRS. J. H, PATON About 300 people attended the interesting auction sale of the contents of the estate of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. B. McFalls, RR 1 Clandeboye.
