Sept. 11 Arena 2:00 - 8:00 p,m,
Vaccination against rabies will be provided for dogs
and cats three months of age and over. Owners who require
certificates of vaccination for export or other purposes
should consult their private veterinary. No certificates will
be issued at this clinic.
Help prevent human exposure to rabies, take

won by local combination
A pair of local bowlers proved
to be the best of a full draw
entered in last week's men's pair
tournament staged by the Exeter
lawn bowling club.
Ray Smith and Ivan Hill
combined to down top notch
competitors from numerous
Western Ontario points. The
whiners chalked up' a record of
three wins, a plus of 27 and
aggregate of 29 to take the grand
championship.

Tigers Intermediate baseball club
will never forget a disastrous half
inning of play in Ontario Baseball
Association "D" playoffs,
Wednesday night.
The Tigers trying for their
third straight 0I3A championship
had their dreams go down the
drain when Wilkesport scored
eighteen times in the top of the
ninth inning to post a 24 - 12
decision and take the HONOR RETIRING PRESIDENT Bob Sadler of Staffa who served eleven years as president of the
Huron -Perth baseball league was honored at a league banquet in Dashwood, Friday night. Sadler at the right
of the above picture is receiving a pen and pencil set from new president Bob Frier of Mitchell with
vice-president Glenn Webb of Dasliwood at the right.
Fairmont in London placed
second while Arnold and Gary
Fisher of Goderich finished in
third spot.
A prize for the top one-game
winner was taken by Harold
Simpson and Art Cann of the
Exeter club.
The final open tourney of the
year, an event for mixed pairs will
be held at the Exeter club,
Wednesday afternoon,
September 16.
In regular jitney play, Tuesday
night, Lizzie Lamport emerged as
the winner with two wins, a plus
of 14 and aggregate of 34. Alvin
Pym was next in line with a plus
of 14 and aggregate of 33 to go
with a double win.
Walter Hodge was in third
position with Russ Snell placing
fourth.
The ladies continued to
dominate local play, Saturday
night with Gertrude Hamilton
coming in first place with two
wins, a plus of 15 and aggregate of
24.
A plus of 12 and aggregate of
23 along with two victories
allowed Wilf Shapton to finish in
the runner-up position with

best-of-three series in straight
games.
The Dashwood club moved
into the last inning with what
looked like a comfortable six run
lead thanks to shortstop John
Hayter's bases loaded home run-
in the bottom of the seventh.
Wilkesport batters proceeded
to collect eleven hits and were
aided greatly by seven Dashwood
errors and four bases on -'balls to
run their ninth inning run total
to eighteen.
Dashwood scored four times
in their first trip to the plate on
singles by Pete Ravelle, Bud
Desjardine and Whitey Denomme
and a visiting team error.
Bud Desjardine's single sent
John Hayter home with the fifth
Tiger tally in the third and Bob
Hoffman scored a lone run in the
fourth without the aid of a hit.
Desjardine collected his third
straight single in the fifth and
scored his club's seventh run of
the night.
Jim Hayter, Robbie Wein and
Stan Lovie singled and Bob
Hoffman was on by way of an
error in the seventh to set the
stage for John Hayter's grand
stammer that completed the five
run rally.
Stock car driver Don Dundas
of Creditor won the "A" feature
event at the Ausable Valley track
near Brinsley, Sunday afternoon.

to Hensall lad
Local stars
in tourney
Scott Smith of Hensel] won
four classes in an all-pinto horse
show Sunday on the Ponderosa
Ranch, three miles north of
Bayfield.
He and his mount were best in
the junior western pleasure,
English pleasure, trail and halter
classes. He accumulated the most
points of any contestant.
Ron Swartz of Centralia
showed the grand champion
stallion and best three-year old
stallion. Grand champion mare
was exhibited by Mrs. Robert
McNair of Walkerton. Her entry
was also judged best
three-year-old mare.
The best two-year-old filly was
shown by Robert Snell of
Centralia and the best
two-year-old colt by Wilmer
Preszcator of Exeter.
Gary Stoddart of Waterloo
was runner-up to Scott Smith in
total points scored.
The Exeter all-stars
competing in the Labour Day
weekend fastball tournament in
Goderich will see their first action
Saturday night at 7:30 against
Lucknow.
The same night at 9:15, Zurich
will meet Dungannon. A fifteen
man squad will represent Exeter.
The pitching staff will include
Don Pickering, Don Mousseau
and I)on Bell. Other, local players
will be Gerry Finnen, Ron
Bogart, Cy Blommaert, Jim
Hewitt, Earl Wagner, Murray
Brintnell, Barry Baynham, Bill
Bourne, Terry Bourne, Bill

goes on tour

The curator of the Huron
Pioneer Museum, Raymond
Scotchmer, is renovating an old
school bus which he plans to fill
with exhibits from the museum
and tour around to most of the
fall fairs in the County in the near
future.
Attendance at the Museum is
crowding the 20,000 mark for
this season.
In addition to visitors from
many parts of Canada and United
States many people have
registered from Germany,
Scotland; England, Japan,
Holland.
Ten guides, five in the morning
and five in the afternoon have
been present throughout the
summer to show the visitors
around. They are all 'collegiate
students
A recent addition to the
museum is an old-fashioned doll
more than 100 years old. It was
once owned by Mrs. Sophia Dietz
of Palmerston. The doll was later
passed on to two sisters, Mrs.
Martha Gaulin and Mrs. Anita
Wolfe of Detroit. They thought it
should return to the land from
whence it came and sent the
unique doll to the museum at
