Larry Snider Motors LIMITED FORD TRACTOR EXETER 235-1640 LUCAN 227-4191 Dear Sir In the last edition of the T-A, I was very interested in a comment made by a citizen of the town of Exeter, when present at the Council meeting, This was to do with the erection of a car wash on Main St. N, near the Brewer's Retail Store. I believe that the comment made by this person was that if a car wash was built in this location it would be nothing but a hang out for teenagers, with no Police protection. I would like to say to this person who made the comment, that in the future before making statements, the facts should first be obtained. I personally can assure anyone that wants to build a car wash anywhere in the town of Exeter, that it will not be a hangout for anyone. And that it will have Police protection at all times of the day or night. All a citizen has to do is telephone 235-1235, and if an Officer is not there within a reasonable time "then I want to know the reason". In the first instance the rate of crime in the local teenager bracket is very slight in our community. This can be proven by statistics compared with Towns of similar size and population. In my opinion the teenagers in the town of Exeter are very well behaved in comparison to many other smaller Towns. In the second instance regarding the comment of no Police protection, I disagree wholeheartedly. If you as a citizen think you have no Police protection now in the town of Exeter, heaven only knows what Police Protection you had a few years ago. Remember you as a tax payer are entitled to Police Protection any time of the day or night, and you as a tax payer pay the ENORMOUS amount of $10, per capita, per year for your Police Protection. The Exeter Police Department is your Police Dashwood club one game behind The Dashwood midgets dropped the first game of a best-of-three series to Merlin in Ontario Baseball Association playdowns. The Dashwood youngsters were on the short end of an 11-9 score Sunday afternoon in Merlin. The second game is set for the Dashwood diamond Sunday afternoon at five o'clock. If a third game is necessary it will be played on neutral grounds in Lambeth. Ed Holubowicz was the hitting star for Dashwood with a triple and single. Brian Bestard and Jim Guenther shared the pitching duties for Dashwood. Department. You as a citigen ,made the laws that they enforce, They protect your property, they, preserve the peace, and prevent crime. If anyone has that is legitimate, rumors, come to the 'POLKA: OFFICE and discuss It with the CHIEF, Yours sincerely, E. J. When this house was built it was hard to imagine all the wonderful ways in which electricity would be. serving us today. That's why the wiring in so many older homes just isn't adequate for today's needs. There are many signs. Fuses blowing. Lights dimming, Appli- ances performing sluggishly. Cluttered extension cords. Not enough outlets. So, if you're planning to mod- ernize your home, think first of the wiring. Have a qualified elec- trical contractor check it. You'll be surprised at how easily and inexpensively it can be updated. Or just ask your Hydro. De The Nate' f the dame is Electrical Living. •„. BUILDING PRODUCTS LTD. P.O. Lake, Alberta,, which has been named winner of the prized Steinhardt Trophy, The trophy is awarded annually to the most proficient unit in the Air Defence Command (ADC), the Canadian component of the North American Air Defence Command (NORAD). Selection of CF B Cold Lake, was based upon the individual nominations of the Senior Staff at ADC Headquarters in North Bay, Ont. Each Staff Officer assessed the performance of all 37 ADC units. According to Major General Maurice Lipton, Commander of ADC and the 22nd NORAD Region, the final selection was most difficult because of the high performance standards of all ADC units. Nevertheless, Cold Lake's performance in the Air Defence of Canada marked it as the best. The Steinhardt Trophy was originally donated to the RCAF by Mrs. A, A. Sherlock in memory of tier late father, Lawrence A. Steinhardt, U.S. Ambassador to Canada from October 1948 to March 1950. It is awarded each year to the most proficient unit in the Air Defence Command, the Canadian component of the North American Air Defence Command (NORAD). The Air Defence Command is the major component of the 22nd NORAD Region which directs the Air Defence of more than two million square miles of Canada.
