But machines do not cause accidents.
Farmers do.
• Less than 5% of farm accidents are caused by mechanical
failure.
• More than 93% are caused by carelessness
A thoughtless act, refusal to use safety features like tractor
roll bars and power take-off shields, and allowing children to
operate, ride on or play near machinery are among the principal
causes of farm accidents.

Plan classes
for August
The Exeter Greys split a pair
of games in Huron Ladies softball
play during the past week with
Mitchell.
In Mitchell, Monday night, the
Greys won by a score of 12-8, but
back on their own diamond
Tuesday night, they lost to the
Mitchell girls 13-10.
A four run outburst powered
by home runs by Huras and Pauli
provided the difference in the
13-10 Mitchell win in Exeter.
The Greys started their scoring
in the first inning with Patti
Robinson and Joan Campbell
scoring without the aid of a hit. In
the second Pam Vanderweil's
single drove Lynne Farquhar
home with the third Exeter
counter.
Five more Grey tallies were
chalked up in the fifth with
doubles by Glenda Fisher and
Jayne Broderick and singles from
the bats of Joan Campbell and
Pam Vanderweil doing most of
the damage,
Lynne Farquhar walked and
scored on Marlene Parsons' single
in each of the fifth and seventh
innings.
The Greys scored six times in
the fifth inning to gain the 12-8
victory in Mitchell, Monday
night.
Patti Robinson was the first
Grey across the plate in the first
inning after singling and
advancing on a Mitchell error.
Lynne Farquhar came home in
the second.
