Girls successful in music exams Tammy Baker recently received word that she had successfully passed the grade three piano examination of the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. Kathy Cook passed the grade eight piano exam of the Royal Conservatory of Music and also obtained 93 marks on the grade two theory. Both girls are pupils of Miss Greta Lammie. Choir honors , Former member Mrs. Malcolm Dougall, organist and choir director of Carmel Presbyterian Church was hostess at her home Saturday evening when the choir of the church made the presentation of a chrome relish tray to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Scholl, of London, former member of the choir. The presentation address was ready by Mrs. Bertha MacGregor and John Thomson made the presentation. Miss Margaret Hyde conducted contests and a delicious lunch was served. After several contests were conducted, Karen and Sheila opened their gifts and thanked everyone. Refreshments were served. Monday evening in Zion United Church Sunday School a miscellaneous shower was held to honour Karen Finkbeiner. Program numbers were introduced by Mrs. Harold Fahner. Mrs. Lawrence Amos and Elva Finkbeiner played a piano duet. Debbie and Gwen Finkbeiner and Cathy Hamather sang, to the accompaniment of Gwen's guitar. Ella Morlock gave a reading and Sheila Fahner read the address to the guest of honour. Ed Schroeder had the misfortune to fracture his right ankle while haying at his farm, Saturday, He was taken to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, where his leg was placed in a cast by Dr. Charles Wallace. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker were recent visitors with Mrs. Eva Parker and Bill in London. Mrs. Frank Bean is a patient in Stratford General Hospital recuperating from a fractured hip she sustained in a fall. Mrs. Louise Simpson, a patient in South Huron Hospital, has returned to the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich. • Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle and Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Troyer attended the silver wedding anniversary of their cousins Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bell, Tuesday, in London. There were fifteen present for the anniversary dinner which was held at the Nordon Restaurant and later the guests spent a social time at their home on Beattie Avenue. She said she considered herself a pretty good speller. "But," she added, pointing to a dictionary on a nearby desk, "I don't take any chances. If I'm in any doubt, I just reach for Mr. Weber."
