minister, Rev. Alfred Fry, and
Rev. Harold Snell, Byron,
preached the sermon.
The choir was from
Wesley-Willis Church, Clinton.
After the service the
congregation moved to the
Community Centre to an
informal gathering when many
tributes were paid to Mr. Wilson
for his dedication to the ministry
of the Church, especially in
Huron County.
Dr. Wm. Fingland, Niagara
Falls, likened Mr. Wilson to the
Jesuit priests who came to
administer to the Huron Indians.
He said with Mr. Wilson's 35 years
of service in the County he too,
"could be designated as an
apostle to the Huronians."
Greetings were brought from
all Mr. Wilson's former parishes.
Rev. Sam Kerr spoke on behalf of
the Exeter people and Rev.
Stewart Miner spoke for the
Thames Road congregation.
Mr. & Mrs. Wilson were
presented with a lazy boy chair,
flowers and an inscribed framed
tribute.
Correspondent
hospitalized
Mrs. Wellwood Gill, T-A
correspondent for Grand Bend
suffered a heart attack this week
and is confined to the intensive
care unit at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Life is full of shadows but the

for Bonita Green
Bonita Greene whose marriage
to Charles Keating will take place
in Trivia Memorial Anglican
Church, Saturday has been
honoured at several prepuptial
events,
The bride-elect is the daughter
of Mr, & Mrs. Murray Greene,
Exeter and her fiance is the son of
Mr, & Mrs. Mel Keating,
Hostess for showers were: Mrs.
O. Ersman, Exeter, Lynda
Blanchard, London, and Mrs.
Almira Ford. Presentations were
made a the homes of Mrs. E. L,
Gibson and at Mrs. Don Harris.
TROUSEAU TEA
At a trousseau tea given by the
bride-elect's mother, the tea table
was decorated with a Cluny lace
cloth. Mint green candles flanked
a centrepiece of tastefully
arranged summer flowers.
Pouring tea in the afternoon
were Mrs. Stanley Snell, London,
Mrs. Norman Keating, Wingham,
Mrs. Chas. M. Rickard, London,
grandmother of the bride and
Mrs. Gordon Harris and Mrs.
Percy Hale both of Dorchester
and both great-aunts of the
bride-elect.
In the evening, Mrs. Frederick
McPherson, Wingham, Mrs. Lulu
Mc Laughlin, Detroit, Mrs.
Richard Dickens and Mrs. R. E.
Pooley both of Exeter, poured
the tea.
Miss Marion Bissett was in
charge of the tea room while
Tracey Woods of London
answered the door and registered
the guests in the afternoon and
Debbie Potter was in charge for
the evening.
Following the wedding
rehearsal Friday night, the bridal
party will be entertained by the
parents of the groom-elect.
4-H club girls
entertain WI
The club girls sponsored by
Hurondale WI entertained the
Institute at their June meeting
. with skits, a reading by Joanne
Hodgert, and piano solos by
Nancy Alexander.
Money won from slide
competition will be spent on an
Institute table cloth with Mrs.
Strang and Mrs. Moir responsible
for purchasing it.
Mrs. Patterson gave the
Huronview Auxiliary report and
Mrs. Ballantyne reported on the
Guelph Conference. Deputy
Minister of Agriculture & Food,
E. Biggs, gave a very educational
address on "Pollution" at the
Conference.
Contributions were voted to
four ball clubs and a donation to
Exeter Fall Fair to be used in
same classes as previous year.
The committee in charge of
fair display is Mrs. Harry Dougall,
Mrs. Andy Carter and Mrs.
Norman Brock.
Mrs. Alvin Moir will be in
charge of Hurondale display at
the Rally in October at Centralia
College of Agricultural
Technology.

by seven Huron County United Church charges. Mr. Wilson has given
35 years of dedicated service to the people of this County.

Rev. Hugh Wilson, Exeter, was
honored as few ministers are,
when 300 former parishioners
from seven Huron County
congregations, which he had
served, met to pay him tribute at
Auburn United Church, Sunday
night.
Of the 50 years Mr. Wilson
spent in the ministry, 35 were
served in charges at Auburn,
Brussels, Clinton, Thames Road,
Belgrave, Goderich and Exeter.

Exeter, was the setting for the
marriage between Donna Irene
Walper, daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Harry Walper, Exeter, and Norris
Wayne Desjardine, son of Mr. &
Mrs. Norris Desjardine, RR 1,
Grand Bend.
Rev. Earl Steinman performed
the ceremony before candelabra
and bouquets of white daisies,
June 27, 1970. As the organist,
Miss Helen Nadiger, played The
Lord is My Shepherd, the bride
was escorted down the aisle by
her father. She was gowned in an
empire style wedding dress of
nylon lace over white taffeta. She
wore a blue locket and carried red
roses.
The maid of honor, Pam
Vanderwiel, Kippen, and the
bridesmaids, Laura Cornell,
Denfleld, and Connie Gibbings,
Clinton wore flowing blue
chiffon dresses with white
trimmings and accessories, which
were complemented by blue net
hats trimmed with white and blue
flowers. Their bouquets were of
white daisies and blue
cornflowers.
A cousin of the bride, Cathy
Gibbings, of Clinton, was flower
girl and Douglas Mason, cousin of
the groom acted as ring bearer.
Louis Desjardine was best man
for his brother and Ron Walper,
brother of the bride, and Ron
Mason, cousin of the groom, were
ushers.
A wedding reception was held
at the Dashwood Community
Centre which was tastefully
decorated.
The bride changed to a blue
and white dress with white
accessories to travel to points
north where the couple
honeymooned.
The bride has a position with
Avco Financial Services and the
groom is employed by Hodgins &
Hayter Ltd., RR 3, Parkhill.

decorated with candelabra and
baskets of mauve and pink
daisies, was the setting for the
marriage of Barbara Ann Nairn
and Douglas Murray Jeffery, June
13, 1970, with Rev. Dr. R. D.
Crosby officiating.
The couple's parents are Mr. &
Mrs. Frank J. Nairn, RR 1, St.
Marys, and Mr. & Mrs. Robert E.
Jeffery, RR 1, Hensall.
The wedding music was
supplied by organist George A.
Thompson who also
accompanied the soloist Gayle
Atwell, London.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was lovely in a
floor length gown of silk organza
over taffeta. Alecon lace trimmed
the fitted bodice, the prissy
collar, hankerchief sleeves, and
the hem of the A-line skirt. The
bridal ensemble was completed
by, a chapel train and a floor
length silk illusion veil caught by
a petal band of Alecon lace and
pearls. The Juliet bridal bouquet
was of pink roses.
Susan Nairn was maid of
honor for her sister, and the
bridesmaids were Mrs. James
Nairn, Mrs. Leonard Hawkins and
Barbara Rivers. They wore
dresses of lilac polyester
georgette with short sleeves,
frilled collars and empire
waistlines trimmed with lilac
rosettes and green velvet leaves.
The dresses were topped with
floor length coats of darker lilac
shantung. The attendspts wore
rhinestone and pearl tiaras and
carried Topiary bouquets of
m au ve daisies and pink
carnations.
Nancy Jane Jeffery, cousin of
the groom, was a charming flower
girl in a white chiffon gown
featuring an empire waistline and
short flared sleeves. She carried a
miniature bouquet similar to the.
other attendants,
Best man was Ron. Campbell,
and the ushers were Robert
Crawford, Jack Nairn, and Earl
Gackstetter.
Jamie Nairn, nephew of the
bride was the ringbearer.
The wedding reception was
held in he church parlor, after
which the couple left for a
honeymoon to Freeport in the
Grand Bahamas,
For travelling the bride chose a
two piece ensemble consisting of
petal pink silk dress and a
worsted, sleeveless cutaway coat,
with matching accessories.
