FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA Mrs. Reg Hodgson, Waterloo, and Mrs. Urban Pfile of Zurich accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Ken Greb to Port Huron Saturday where they attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Otto Bauer. Wilda Pollock of Kitchener visited for a few days last week with her sister, Mrs. Lorne Hicks. Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Molnar, Jimmie and Nancy of Agincourt were weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. S. Hendrick, PERSONALS Brian Darby and Bob Harvey of Toronto spent the weekend at the home of Mrs. Isaac Gower. Mr, & Mrs. John Moir, Detroit, spent Sunday with Mr, & Mrs. Lloyd Geiser. Lawrence Hill is a patient at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Robert Bushfield at St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Cpl. and Mrs. Cecil Caughlin and Bradley have returned to Canada after four years in Germany. They are spending some time with Mrs. Caughlin's parents, Mr. & Mrs, Aaron Wein, before proceeding to their new posting at Edmonton. Sunday evening Rev. Douglas Warren conducted the service in the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich. Choir members who accompanied him to help with the singing were Niss Nola Feist, Mrs. Lloyd Hey, Mrs. Walter Fydenchuk, Mrs. Ed. Finkbeiner, Mrs. Alvin Finkbeiner and Bert Bocock. Clara Gaiser received word of the death of her brother Lorne, at St. Marys, Monday. Lorne, the son of Mr. & Mrs. John Gaiser, lived in this community until he moved to St. Marys at the time of his marriage. Recent guests at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Alf Tilley were Mr. & Mrs. Harry Gackstetter of Plattsville and Herb Mitchell of London. The community was grieved by the death of Glenn Ratz in a highway accident Sunday. Glenn was a member of Zion United Church and Sunday School, and served as usher. By MRS. WELLWOOD GILL GRAND BEND Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mollard, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Mollard, Lisa, Jeff, Carl and Martha, and Mrs. Amy Asling all of Parkhill; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Love of Thedford, Mr. and Mrs. Colin Love of Grand Bend, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Love, Paul and Heather. They also toured the Eisenbach Museum. The occasion was to honor Mrs. Norman Mollard and Mrs. Amy Asling on their birthdays. EVENING UCW The evening Unit of the UCW met Tuesday evening when Mrs. Ken Roberts conducted the worship period and Mrs. Win. Brenner was in charge of the program. Mrs. Agnes Smith leader of the Unit presided for the business. A large bale of clothing was taken to a needy family which was the project of the Unit. A cook book project was also discussed. The members were reminded of a bake sale in July and bazaar and bake sale in August. AFTERNOON UNIT The afternoon Unit of the UCW met Thursday with 21 present. Mrs. Charles Reeves conducted the worship and spoke on the Generation Gap. Mrs. E. DesJardins read the scripture; Mrs. Elgin Webb showed pictures on Hong Kong while Mrs. Arthur Webb commented briefly on them. Mrs. Emery DesJardins, Mrs. Mae Holt and Mrs. Mansel Mason sang. Mrs. Wm. Love, leader, presided for the business. She reminded the ladies of the General Meeting Tuesday, when Mrs. S. Miner, president of Huron-Perth Presbyterial would be the speaker. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Colin Love visited last week with Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Love, Danny and Dick in Sarnia. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Love, Ginger, Debbie, John and Patti Jane spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Love, Holly and Stewart in Toronto. Mrs. Jim Love entertained a few friends Monday afternoon honoring Mrs. Verne Ridley on her birthday. Weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. W. Gill were Mr. & Mrs. Stan Steinacker and Linda Joy of Stratford, and Russel and Ralph Guest of Detroit, Mich. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Wareham of Sarnia visited last week with Mr. & Mrs. Mansel Mason. Roll call was answered by A Vanished Custom In Our Area and the motto, Memory Is A Wonderful Treasure Chest, If You Know How To Pack It was given by Mrs. Franklin Skinner. Mrs. Jack Doerr of Exeter gave a very interesting talk and demonstration on pottery. Mrs. Eric Clayburn sang a solo and Mrs. Horace Delbridge read a poem. During the business it was decided to serve lunch at the South Huron Ladies' Auxiliary meeting in October. It was decided to have the eight weeks St. John's Ambulance Course in the fall. & Mrs. Victor Blatchford at Grimsby Beach. The music pupils of Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins will present a Musical in the Centralia United Church, Tuesday evening of next week. William Haddock is a patient in South Huron Hospital having been admitted for treatment, Thursday of last week. Mr. & Mrs. J. Loft of Dderton were recent guests at the home of Mrs. Philip Hern gave the report of the District Annual and Mrs. F. Skinner gave a report of the Historical Meeting. Tag Day for the Hospital will be in September and the Fall Rummage Sale will be in October. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wm. Allen, Mrs. E. Skinner, Mrs. Martin DeJonge and Mrs. Jackson Woods. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bell, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Parsons and Vicki were Sunday guests of Mr. & Mrs. Norman Jaques of Zion and attended the Zion United Church Anniversary Service. Mr. & Mrs. Philip Johns and Gerald visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Hein of Zion. Mr. & Mrs. Ross Skinner and family visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Wilkinson of Zion. The Elimville UCW pot luck supper and picnic will be held at Mrs. Murray Elliott. Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson attended the Robinson-Mantler wedding at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt, Saturday.
