How to get your wife into a Volkswagen.
Have you shied away from a Volkswagen
because your wife shies away from a stickshift?
Does she appreciate the economical idea
of a VW, but not the way the idea looks?
We are happy to be able to tell you that
we have solved this age-old problem in the
age-old manner: by giving Woman everything
she wants.
The Volkswagen Squareback Sedan.
The Squareback (along with our Fastback
and Notchback Sedans) is available with fully
automatic transmission. All she has to do is put
it in Drive, and drive.
Of course, because the Squareback also
comes with enough room to carry camping gear,
lumber or lawnmowers, you'll probably want to
borrow it a lot.
Which poses a whole new problem:

Don't know what sort of
hodge podge the column will
contain this week as most Legion
activity is at a standstill for the
summer months — however we
should be able to find something
that may be of interest to the
readers.
Sunday, June 14 Women's
Branch of the Royal Canadian
Legion 304 paraded to
Westminster Hospital, London
where they retired their old
branch colours in the
Westminster Hospital Chapel. It
was an impressive ceremony with
representation from the men's
legion in attendance. By the way I
understand we have several
exservice women in Lucan, if you
are interested in joining the
Legion and are reluctant to join
the local branch, why not get in
touch with Comrade Doreen
Crudge, Lucan who is a member
of the Women's Branch; lam sure,
she will be most happy to take
your membership application.

A Tio of our Berets. "to the
lovely ladies of the Auxiliary to
Branch 540, Lucan who
presented the men with an
automatic ice making machine
for use in their bar. I understand
that it is a dandy and makes 50
pounds of cubes in 24 hours with
storage for 35 pounds — anyone
wish to fill their ice pack? Thanks
ladies for your very generous gift
it is greatly appreciated by us all.

A local effort well worth
mentioning is the Anglican Youth
Movement, who are building a
Coffee House in the basement of
the parish hall in' Lucan. These
kids deserve a lot of credit for
they have put a lot of work into
this project. Incidentally they are
in need of furniture —if you have
some that you would like to
donate please get in touch with
Ron Crudge at 227-4455 Lucan
between 5 and 7 p.m. who will be
most happy to pick it up. Good
Luck kids we wish you every
success. * * *
Did you know that your local
Lucan Legion and the Ladies of
the Auxiliary last year spent in
excess of $3,000.00 sponsoring
an assortment of activities for the
youth of our community. How
do you like those apples — not
bad for a small branch in a small
community — this is but another
reason why you should become a
PAID-UP mengper of the action
set. To card on with our
membership card — if it doesn't
read 1970 — get busy and send
your cheque for $8.00 to the
secretary — we need you
Comrade. Please do it NOW. * * *
Date to remember is
Thursday, June 18 — the reason
why this is the date of the Zone
A5 meeting at the Parkhill Branch
of the Canadian Legion. I know
that you will be all interested to
hear that our Zone Commander
Comrade Tom Healey went and
got himself married since we last
met, and on the Q.T. at that —

The service of Holy

memory of Mr. James H. Paton

Rev. Carson preached on the
theme Man in Community from
the text "Except your Brother be
with you".
Mr. Carson said this was the
story of a family — a doting father
and a spoiled child who,
nonetheless, grows into
adolescence and brilliant
maturity, thus giving the lie to
those psychological fatalists who
blame everything on the home.
He went on to point out that
today there is a crisis about
identity. The cry comes, Who am
I? He said self-knowledge comes
through other people.
Depth of relationship gives
meaning to life. Too many people
have shallow, superficial relations
with others. He concluded by
pointing out when we elevate our
brother we upgrade ourselves.
Next Sunday at the 9:45 a.m.
service of morning prayer, the
chancel railings will be dedicated
to the memory of Mr. Ross
