Council acts

[(instill Council met briefly
Monday night to take care of a
few items of business left over
from the regular meeting last
week.
Tenders will be called to
renovate the fire hall so it can
accommodate the new fire engine
when it arrives later this summer.
Members also decided to start
the necessary action to close the
street which runs along side of the
arena. This will still leave two
accesses to the community park.
Councillor Paul Neilands
started the discussion of closing
the street when he said, "If there
is to be a summer program for
children in the park that road
could create a danger to the
youngsters playing there."
There was some discussion
about unloading garbage in the
dump on days when it is not
open.
Apparently, several persons
have requested the caretaker to
open the dump to dispose of
garbage at various times.
Councillors felt this was not a
good practise and Reeve Oliver
Jaques said, "People are not going
to come the days the dump is
open if they know they can
borrow the key any time."
It was decied the key to the
dump would not he given out to
anyone, and that garbage could
not be dumped on days not
designated except in emergencies,
at which time Ernie Davis or a
member of council would have to
unlock the gate and see that the
garbage was unloaded at the
proper place.

these two young people was most
welcome, and certainly most
enlightening to a point. However,
for every question answered or
opinion expressed, it leads to
more questions and we hope that
the opportunity to discuss drugs
with some users will again arise.
It is the type of dialogue that
helps us understand better the
drug situation.
We hope many readers will
be given such opportunities in the
future, and if that does happen,
be prepared to' readily accept the
invitation.
