Mrs. Lida Lamport passed
away Saturday May 30, at St.
Marys Hospital, London, where
she had been resident for the past
eight months. In her 88th year,
she was the former Lida Celia
Orser, born in Bancroft, Maine
U.S.
Her husband, Ed. Lamport,
predeceased her in 1953. They
farmed for many years on the
16th concession of Stephen.
Surviving are five children,
Mrs. Gordon McNair (Martha) of
Ilderton, Mrs. Ed Duncan
(Mildred) of London, Mrs. Harry
Sheppard (Ruth) of Shipka, Tom
of London, John of Toronto; also
10 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was from T.
Harry Hoffman Funeral Home,
Tuesday with Rev. Lawrence
Turner and Rev. H. G. Dobson
officiating.
Pall bearers were Lorne
Dietrich, Harold Finkbeiner,
Wray Sweitzer, Ken Baker,
Fermon Snyder, and Hugh
Morenz.

Janet Guenther, who passed
away suddenly in a drowning
accident, is sadly missed in this
community. Janet was a friendly,
talented girl who was ready to try
her eighth grade piano
examination and was an active
4-H Club member. She attended
Greenway United Church and
Sunday School where she was a
pianist.

the Stratford Hospital School of
Nursing, Saturday May 30.
A reception was held at her
ho me RR 1, Dashwood,
following the graduation when
over a hundred neighbours,
relatives and friends attended.
Linda is the daughter of Mrs.
Olive Miller and the late Allan
Miller.

Grand Bend Women's Institute
was held in the town hall,
Thursday evening.
The Horticulture Convener,
Mrs. Ed Gill, was in charge. She
introduced the guest speaker, Mr.
Rogers, teacher at Grand Bend
school. He showed pictures of the
pupils and the work they do on
their field trips.
Roll Call was a tip on growing
house plants and the motto was
plant a seed of character in the
home, and it will bloom in the
community.
Mrs. Susie Devine gave a report
on the officer's conference at
Guelph and Mrs. Alex Hamilton
reported on the District Annual.
Mrs. Wm Love presided for the
business. Mrs. Emery DesJardins
reported on the W.I. Anniversary
dinner in June. Mrs. Robert
Jennison and Mrs. Alan Parker
received gifts for their work with
the 4-H girls.
There was an exchange of
plants and lunch was served by
Mrs. Olive Webb, Mrs. Myrtle
McGregor, Mrs. Arlo Stucky, Mrs.
John Lovie,

The Grand Bend UCW were in
charge of the service Sunday
morning. Assisting Rev. H.
Dobson was the president, Mrs.
Wm Blewett and Mrs. Agnes
Smith, leader of the evening unit
and Mrs. Wm Love, leader of the
afternoon unit.
