Wilfred Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church when three new members, Bert Thompson, Al Hoggarth and Clarence Volland were inducted as elders of the session, :0 Mrs. Sim Roo bol who has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, for the past two weeks, returned home Sunday. Mrs. Dave Morrison of New Westminster, B.C, is visiting her sister Mrs. Alma Hess. Mrs. J. L. McCloy and daughter Carrie of Don Mills, spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Alma Hess. Clarence Parke was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital,. Thursday. Miss Mattie Ellis is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Shaddick of London, visited with relatives in Hensall, Wednesday. Mrs. Pearl Shaddick returned to London with them where she will visit for a few days. Mrs. Bertha Jinks spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Ross Hi-C's plan children's tour The Hi-C of Hensall United Church are planning to entertain children from the Merrymount Children's Home of London in June. The children will be taken on a tour of the area with a picnic and lunch following. Jinks and family, and Miss Susan Jinks, London, Mrs. Milton Lavery, Hensall, is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Weekend visitors with Mrs. Ferd Miller were Mrs. Robert Annan, Larry, Nancy and Blair of Pickering. Mrs. Ferd Miller, Mrs. R., Annan and family spent Saturday with Mrs. Marie Pask at Zurich, the occasion being a family dinner for Miss Emma Bassow's 77th birthday. Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and Latter Day Saints Church, Monetville, Northern Ontario, was the setting, May 23 for a quiet but pretty wedding, when Carol Lynn Kerr, daughter of Mr. William A. Kerr, North Bay, and the late Mrs. Kerr, became the bride of Norman Paul Sims of Exeter, son of Mrs. E. R. Sims, Exeter and the late Mr. Sims, in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Harold Fryer. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length A-line gown of white satin. The shoulder length veil of net was caught to a headpiece of white roses and she carried a nosegay of yellow roses and white mums. Mrs. Linda Coulonbe of family of Scarborough were recent visitors with Mrs. MacLaren's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and sons. Mrs. Bert Thompson who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter for the past two weeks returned to her home this week. Mr. & Mrs. Bert Horton are enjoying a vacation in the State of Texas, U.S.A. Mrs. Alma Hess and Mrs. Grace McEwen visited this week with relatives in Watford. Monetville, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor and wore a sea green crepe floor-length ensemble. She carried a cascade of white carnations and yellow mums. Tom Elliott of Exeter was groomsman, and Wes Sims, Exeter, brother of the groom ushered. The .wedding reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kerr, Monetville, aunt and uncle of the bride. The young couple will reside in Exeter. Guests were present from Ottawa, North Bay, Monetville,Noelville, Exeter, Hensall. The bride is the niece of Mrs. Maude Hedden, Hensall. Hensall UCW aid campers. The General Meeting of Hensall UCW was held in Fellowship Hall, MondaY with St. Peter's Lutheran Church Women of Zurich as guests. Unit 1 was in charge of the meeting and Mrs. Howard Scane who chaired the meeting welcomed the visitors and read a thought provoking poem All I worked for, I left behind, Musical numbers which delighted the audience were provided by eleven girls under the direction of Miss Sararas and Mrs. Beatrice Hess of Zurich. Theme of the meeting was Stewardship and Mrs. Smite and Mrs. Walter Spencer gave thoughts on the subject. Three skits were -)resented by Mrs. David Kyle, Mrs. Robert Cook, Mrs. Howard Scane and Mrs. Albert Shirray, Mrs. Harold Currie introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. G. W. Tiffin, of Wingham, who spoke on Stewardship. She said that the world needs the Plus Sign on the Cross. Mrs. Albert Shirray thanked the speaker and the girls for their contribution to the meeting. The offering was taken by Mrs. Ken Elder and Mrs. Jack Consitt and the dedication prayer was given by Mrs. Scane. During the business portion, chaired by the president Mrs. Vern Alderdice, reports were given for supply and welfare by Mrs. E. Chipchate, treasurer's report, Mrs. Walter Spencer; visitation, Mrs. Lorne Hay; social functions, Mrs. Alderdice. Motions were made to send $50 for two children to be sent to Camp and to purchase dishes for the church. It was decided to hold a church service in charge of the UCW. The meeting closed with the Mary Stewart Collect and refreshments served by Unit 1. Hensall Rebekas nominate officers The regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge was held Wednesday with Noble Grand, Mrs. Elgin Thomson, presiding. Nomination of officers for 1970-71. was held: Noble Grand, Mrs. John Taylor, Brucefield; recording secretary, Mrs. Leona Parke; financial secretary, Mrs. Bertha McGregor; treasurer, Mrs. Ed Corbett; trustee, Mrs. Margaret Ingram. Plans were arranged for visiting lodges for next meeting. Members received an invitation to attend Friendship Night at Huronic Lodge at Clinton in June. RECEIVE COUNTY HONOURS — Seven girls from the district were honored Saturday at the Huron County 4-11 Achievement Day for clubs in the Zurich area.
