KINDERGARTEN CLASS PERFORMS AT EXETER PUBLIC SCHOOL'S SPRING SING 436 Main St. Exeter, 235,2940 Sputum cytology tests for Huron In his annual report, G. P. A. Evans, Medical Officer of Health for Huron County reported a Sputum Cytology Service was launched in the County and is designed for the cigarette smoker who will not give up the habit. In a well controlled program, with adequate follow-up, the technique is a valuable tool in the early diagnosis of lung cancer. It will point to the presence of lung malignancy or pre-malignancy when the disease still does not show on x-ray plates. To conserve scarce resources of the cytologist time, clear priority is given to the heavy cigarette smoker or any cigarette smoker with chest symptoms. Dr, Evans went on to say that there are intelligent people who will not recognize the irrefutable evidence that to continue cigarette smoking is about as sensible as extending a welcome to the bacteria of diphtheria or the virus of polio, He also warned that the millions of human beings who see nothing unwise in subjecting their miraculously complex and delicately structured brain to blunderbuss attempts to 'know themselves better' through the misuse of drugs were showing immaturity or a desire to escape from reality.
