Ron was top man in an
elimination contest which won
him his Brae Belt. Keith won his
Blue Belt and also his Brown
Belt and will spar at a Black Belt
International Tournament in
August at Toronto.
The Black Belt is the highest
achievement to be won in
Karate.
The student of Karate goes
up a ladder of colored belts,
starting with white, he
progresses to yellow, orange,
'green, blue, brown and finally to
black.
Karate is a difficult sport and
is taught mainly for building the
body and competing in
tournaments.
It is not taught for fighting in
the streets and the latter is
treated as a grave offense by the
Association which is world wide.
The Exeter branch of 20
members meets three times a
week during the winter and
twice a week through the
summer. Anyone interested may
try out for a week with no
obligation to join.
