Reverse form to oust champs In a special playoff Wednesday to decide the league championship in the Exeter Legion dart league, the Dart Sharks defeated the Hairpins with Jean Estey coming up with three wins. The first round of the playoffs Friday provided a reversal of form with the Hairpins ousting the Dart Sharks. Other teams surviving the first playoff round were the Dark Angels, Turtles, B & J's, Canners, Featherflights, B & W's and Dutchies. Friday's playoff schedule is as follows: Hairpins vs Dark Angels Turtles vs B & J's Canners vs Featherflights B & W's vs Dutchies Dashwood ready for ball season Any district ball players wishing to try out' with the Dashwood Tigers are reminded that the second practice of the season will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. How on Earth is it That despite a tremendous rise in the cost of just about all basic materials, goods, services and wages, the Exeter Public Utilities Commission can keep on expanding its services by putting thousands of dollars into a new transformer station, adding miles of power lines, erecting modern street lighting and loads and loads of ancillary equipment to meet the ever increasing electrical needs of the Town of Exeter? Do yoU know that in the last 10 years our Commission has increased the total value of utility property and equipment from $216,450.95 to $639,376.51! However, during this period the average residential cost per kilowatt hour decreased from 1.26c per KWH to 1.22c per KWH. Fact is: We Can't We are not super human. Rates will still be low but as from July 1, 1970 billing will show a long delayed yet modest increase. HEBER DAVIS Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis visited their uncle and aunt, Mr, & Mrs. Alf Dickins, London, Saturday and the women attended the trousseau tea at the home of Mr, & Mrs. Fred Dickins in honor of their daughter Brenda, whose marriage takes place May 16, Saturday, the Davis' were dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Stanley, Denfield, and were guests at a birthday dinner for their granddaughter, Mary Tindall at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Tindall, Sunday. Mr, & Mrs. Charles Tindall, Grand I3end also attended the party. Mr. & Mrs, Ron Carroll, Ian and Brenda visited their aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Carf Cann and David, Exeter, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis were guests of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dickins of Exeter, Saturday evening at a chicken barbecue at Uniondale. Heather Davis and Jim Mugford, Dashwood, were guests Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Simpson, St. Marys. Dennis and Carol Hockey were elected presidents of the Exeter Mixed Bowling Leagues at the annual awards night banquet at the Legion Hall, Saturday, They succeed Charlie and. Doreen Browning in that post. Other officers elected were; vice-presidents, Brian and Lynda Sanders; secretaries, Pete and Ruth Durand; treasurers, Rod Hippern and Gloria Hall. High singles — Jim Russell 336, Larry Cronyn 410, Liz Bell 335, Jean Crawford 331, Ladies who bowled games over 300 and 350 were presented with crests by Aub and Grace Farquhar. These included: Lila Smith, Liz Bell (2), Marj Kadey, Marie Hnat, Jean Crawford (2), Mary Holtzmann (3), Lynne Farquhar and Mary Cronyn. Men who bowled games over 350 and 400 were: Verne Smith (2), Don Wright, Barry Greenacre, Larry Cronyn and Hal Flaro. The latter two had games of 410 and Greenacre had a 401, Hard luck bowlers included: Harold Channel, Linda Four attend convention Four representatives from Exeter attended the recent convention of the Ontario Hockey Association in Toronto. Assistant recreation director Gary Middleton was accompanied by RAP chairman Cord Baynham and two members of the Exeter Junior Hawk executive, manager Bob Baynham and Gar Johnston. Gord Baynham told members of the Exeter Hawks at their banquet on Friday that some discussion was held on changing the age limits for junior players, but no decision has been reached as yet. A motion had also been presented at the meeting to reduce the present 25-mile limit for drawing Junior "D" players, but this was defeated. Mr. '& Mrs. Fred Dobbs and children entertained Mr, & Mrs. Robert Mogk and family of Guelph over the weekend. Gary Barker is recuperating at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Barker. Gary has a fractured leg. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dickins, Exeter spent . Sunday evening with Mr, & Mrs. Earl Greenlee.
