The outers club is having a
car wash today and tomorrow,
Thursday and Friday, at 3:15, to
raise money for the club's
expenses, which consist of
buying camping equipment.
The prices are 75 cents for
cleaning just the interior and 75
cents for a wash or $1.25 for
both.
The outers raised $10,00 at
their first car wash held last
Thursday. Come out and
support this new club.
Monday of this week, the
grade 11 and 12, technical
students toured the General
Motors Foundry and Engine
Plants in St. Catharines.
The boys saw engine blocks
being machined, and V-8 engines
assembled. They observed the
precision machining of
crankshafts, and pistons on
automated machines operated
by hydraulics, electronics and
electricity.
Skilled tradesmen, such as
pattern makers, tool makers,
electricians, welders and
millwrights, were observed at
work.
This General Motors plant,
produces over 2,400 engines in
one day and employs 5,000
people. It is operated 24 hours a
day. The assembled engines are
sent to Oshawa, to be installed
in the various cars, produced by
General Motors.
