Cubs visit sugar bush,
ladies at Greenway

A week ago the Cubs, under
the direction of their leaders
Mrs, Bill Johnson and Mrs.
Walter Fydenchuk, visited the
sugar bush of Mr. Earl Dixon.
Mrs. Steve Pertschey, Joe
Thorne, Jack Dye and Harold
Borden drove and gave assistance
to the leaders.
Mr. Dixon explained the
method of collection and
evaporation of the sap, and gave
each boy a taste of syrup. Then
he handed the leaders a kettleful
of finished syrup to boil down
for candy.
The following week the Cubs
went bowling at the Exeter
lanes.
UCW
The UCW of Zion United
Church met Thursday evening.
Mrs. Gordon Finkbeiner
accompanied the singing. Mrs.
Alvin Finkbeiner was in charge
of the program, with Mrs. Roy
Ratz, Mrs. Aaron Wein and Mrs.
Cliff Kenney assisting. Choruses
and readings followed the theme
Serenity of the Soul.
Two songs were sung by
Katherine Ratz, Kathie Schenk,
Brenda Fahner and Barbara
Pfaff, Mrs. Douglas Warren,
speaker of the evening, proved
that life begins when God takes
control of our lives,
Mrs, Ed, Finkbeiner,
president, took charge of the
business session. An -invitation
was read to attend the bOte sale
and tea of the Centralia.. UCW,.
