Durand officiating. Dorothy Wagner, Zurich, supplied the wedding music as the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. The bridal costume was an A-line gown of peau de charme, accented with ruffles at the neckline, hem and sleeves. The floor length veil was caught by a band of stephanotis, and the bride carried a pendulum bouquet of gardenias and stephanotis. A sister of the bride, Mrs. Paulette Bruglmans, Edmonton, was matron of honor and wore burgundy velvet styled in an A-line, empire waisted gown, accented with silver trimming. She carried a cluster of pink hyacinths and roses. The bridesmaids, Dorothy Farwell and Cathy Schroeder, were gowned in royal blue velvet and their flowers were blue hyacinths and roses. Michelle Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Watson, was the flower girl and the ringbearer was Brian Cartwright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cartwright, Clinton. " Local student second in test A Grade 11 student at Goderich Collegiate Institute won the United Nations Youth Pilgrimage Speaking Contest at. Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton, Friday night. Catherine Russell, 16, daughter of Rev. and Mrs, G. G, Russell, took first place over six other contestants in the contest sponsored by the IOOF and Rebekah Lodges of Huron County. Runner-up was Richard Ottewell, 15, of Exeter, a Grade 10 student at South Huron Secondary School in Exeter. The winner will go on an all-expense paid trip in July to New York to the United Nations. A highlight of the tour is being allowed to sit in on the UN sessions as this is the only sponsored group allowed to do this. Miss Russell will be one of the thousand students from United States and Canada taking part , in the 21st annual Oddfellows Pilgrimage for Youth. The judges for the contest which required each speaker to give a seven-minute prepared speech and a one-minute impromptu speech were: Rev. H. W. Wonfor, Clinton; Mr. W. H. Knisley, Clinton; and Rev. Glenn Wright, Exeter. The contest was open only to Grade 10 and Grade 11 students.. John Broadfoot, Brucefield, was chairman for the event which was attended by a large group of interested spectators. Mrs. Frank Bowra, Goderich, District Deputy President of Rebekah Assembly, District No. 8 presented award to Miss Russell. Dance class get diplomas Friday evening, the first ballet class sponsored by the Exeter Recreation Committee, held Open House for parents and friends in South Huron District High School. Twenty six young pupils under the supervision of their teacher, Debi Wooden, presented a program of ballet, jazz and tap steps they had learned during the 20 week program. The youngsters ranged in age from four to eight and for most of them it was their first year of lessons. Following the demonstrations coffee was served to the guests and Alvin Willert, Recreation Director, assisted Debi in presenting diplomas to the young dancers. Debi, who is 14 years old, has just completed Grade IX in ballet at the Errington Dance Studios in London. She has been studying with them since she was four. A student at Exeter Public school she is uncertain whether she will dance professionally after she completes her ballet course. But whether she does or not this talented young lady says she would like to continue working with children. the bridesmaids and chose dresses styled similarily to the maid of honor's in shades of pink and blue. Wearing white chiffon over pink, Tracy Ducharme, a niece of the groom, was the flower girl. She carried a nosegay of flowers and the other bridal attendants had crescents of carnations tinted to match their dresses, and ferns. The best man was Danny Byrns, Goderich, and the groomsmen were Gary Geoffrey, Chuck Doxtator. Ted and Jerome Ducharme acted as ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Zurich Community Centre. For travelling to points north, Mrs. Ducharme chose a stunning lime green wool coat and dress ensemble with black accessories. The newly wed couple will reside on John Street, Zurich where the bride is employed at the Bank of Montreal and the g room works as a carpenter-contractor. Wardow - Sektoedez Penny Darlene Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schroeder, Exeter, and Jerome Francis Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Watson, Zurich, Mr. & Mrs. Murray Neil, accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Neil, Dearborn Mich., have returned from a three week holiday that took them to Los Angeles and the Hawaiian Islands. Nine days were spent touring the islands where they enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery, the tropical plants and thousands of acres of pineapple and sugar cane. They flew back to Los Angeles and drove up the Pacific coast through the Redwood Forests to Vancouver to visit Mrs. Murray Neil's sister and family, Mr. & Mrs. Percy Cave. They continued home through the northern states. Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Plyley and Ron, Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Cooper and Glenn and Roy oRrrick visited with Mr, & Mrs. Gerald Cooper of Kincardine, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs, McDonald were married March 31, 1920, Mrs, MacDonald was, the. former Vera Blanche -Cann, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs, Charles Cann and of Exeter and the groom was the son of Mr. & 'Mrs, Donald McDonald of Chiselhnrst, The couple farmed in this area until -1946 -when they moved to Exeter, In 1953 they moved to London where they still reside: Exeter pupils hear N. Cruz Monday evening 100 Grade VII and VIII students from Exeter Public School, chaperoned by Mrs. Elizabeth Moore and Mrs. Ardella DesJardine attended the Nicki Cruz meeting at the Secondary Collegiate in Stratford. To an overflow crowd, Mr. Cruz related his life as a dope addict and a leader of Harlem's worst underworld gang, the Mau Mau. It was in Harlem that Cruz met David Wilkerson, the author of "Cross and the Switchblade" and was so influenced and impressed with this man that he ended his life of crime and violence, and converted to the Christian religion. Since then he has been a world traveller speaking to young people and warning them against the evils of crime and drugs. Mr. Cruz has founded, and is the director of a large home and school for delinquents. He says, "God is the only answer for them." Dadevuote - 2Wa94tet St. Boniface Church, Zurich, was the setting of a pretty double wedding ring ceremony when Dorothy Marie Wagner and Paul Joseph Ducharme were united in marriage before Rev. C. F. Sullivan. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Elda Wagner, Zurich, and the late Leonard Wagner and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ducharme, RR 1, Dashwood. The wedding music was supplied by Mrs. Patricia Meidinger who also accompanied the soloist, Marlene Rader. Bill Wagner, brother of the bride, gave his sister in marriage. She was gowned in a dress of chantilly lace and frosted silk lagoda which featured a shallow scooped neckline, lily point sleeves and an empire bodice. A flowing cathedral length train and a bouffant veil completed the bridal ensemble. The bride's bouquet was a cascade of orchids, stephanotis and baby's breath. The maid of honor, Donna Kipper, wore a dress of yellow, floral chiffon, with scooped neckline, bell shaped sleeves and an empire waistline trimmed with wide yellow satin ribbon. Darlene Ducharme, sister of the groom, and Lynda Thiel were and Gerald Mathers. The guests were ushered by James Craig and Donald Farwell. Following a reception at the Dashwood Community Centre the bride donned a smart peach suit with coffee accessories and left with her husband for a wedding trip to Key West, Florida. The couple will reside in _Exeter where the bride is employed at Reder's Florists. The groom is employed at the Ford Motor Company, St. Thomas.
