The Elimville Women's
Institute held their last euchre
party at the hall, Monday
evening with eight tables

At a dessert euchre in Corbett
Community Centre last Tuesday
afternoon, Mrs. Aaron Scott had
the high score, Miss Muriel
Steeper low score, and Mrs,
Emerson Woodburn the lucky
card.
The Friendship Circle
Quilting group have finished
quilting until fall. They made
donations to Bunny Bundle and
Children's War Memorial
Hospital, London.
The Willing Workers Class of
the United Church will hold
their meeting Saturday evening
at the home of Mr. & Mrs,
Graham Eagleson.
Mrs. Carman Woodburn is a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,

fathers night
Father's night will be held at
the Exeter Home and School
Association meeting next
Tuesday evening.

"Huron Waves" Mary Hastings
Group was held in Shipka
Community Centre with 34
present.
President Mrs. Doreen
Finkbeiner welcomed everyone,,
Remarks were given by Mrs.
Marie Sanderson and Mrs. Jean
Grace and Mrs. Velina Legg of
the Central Exeeutive, London
were in attendance,
Picnic date was decided for
August 1.2 and committees
appointed to be in charge.
The members were
entertained by Mark and Brock
Adams, grandsons of popular
member Mar Glo on their horns.
Two readings were read by Mrs.
Cora Wein and a sing song was
led by Mrs. Nola Love
Closest birthday prize was
won by Mrs. Jean Grace,
London and the Oldest Lady
honor went to Mrs. John Lovie,
Lucky draw was won by Mrs.
Susie Devine,
Progressive Bunco was played
with the winners; high, Mrs. Iva
Latta; low, Mrs. Laura Deters,
Dashwood.
Plans are in the making for
the 25th anniversary of the
"Huron Waves".
Mrs. Verna Legg was
auctioneer for the bake sale.
The spring banquet will be
held at the "London Free
Press," York Street, May 26.
The club will finance two
members attending.
Plan bus trip
for AC Women
The April meeting of Trivitt
Memorial ACW, held Monday
night at the home of Mrs. A.
Elston, RR 1, Centralia, was
opened and conducted by Mrs.
A. Carter. Thirty-five members
answered roll call and the usual
reports were presented.
A bus trip to Brantford and
Caledonia has been planned for
sometime in May.
The Annual Diocesan Meeting
of the ACW is to be held in St.
Pauls Cathedral, London, April
20 and 21. Delegates elected to
attend were Mrs. E. L. Gibson,
Mrs. G. R. Doidge, and Miss
Marion Bissett.
The Strawberry Social will be
held on June 23, and a Dessert
Euchre is planned for April 29.
The May meeting will be held in
the Parish Hall.
Following the business
meeting Mrs. G. Balsdon,
introduced Ben Hoogenboom of
Exeter Flowers, who explained
his ideas of floral arrangements
and demonstrated with two
lovely arrangements, one of
which was won by Mrs. C.
Acheson. Mrs. Bruce Tuckey
thanked Mr. Hoogenboom for
his time and efforts.
Stamp collector
guest of BSP ,
Mrs. William Essery,
Centralia, was host to the Alpha
Pi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi
Tuesday evening and was
assisted by Mrs. Jim Hennessey
and Mrs. Richard Weber.
The guest speaker, Mrs.
Thomas Pridham, Exeter, gave
an enthusiastic talk on her
hobby of stamp collecting. She
brought part of her large
collection for the members to
see and read letters from other
collectors all over the world.
During the business plans for
the Hydro Show-time, being
sponsored by the group next
Tuesday, were completed.
The Sorority members also
discussed the London
Symphony Concert they are
sponsoring later this month
when Bill Brady, C.F.P.L. will
act as narrator.

Margaret Bowra was honored at
a banquet at the Canadian
Legion Hall by the Pride of
Huron Rebekah Lodge
Wednesday evening.
Following the banquet the
members moved to the lodge
rooms where D.D.P. Bowra was
officially presented to the Noble
Grand, Mary Fisher, and a
welcome given to the Goderich
members who accompanied the
District Deputy President to
Exeter.
Mrs. Bowra spoke briefly to
the lodge members after which a
program followed. It consisted
of readings by Mrs. Andy
Hamilton and Mrs. Whitney
Coates, a piano selection by Mrs.
A. Willard and contests.
Mrs. Alvin Pym will show
slides of, her Mexico trip at the
next meeting.

United Church are sponsoring a
service in the church at 8 p.m.
next Sunday evening when Mr.
& Mrs. Gordon Lee of Strathroy
will supply special music and
Roger Smith of the Rescue
Mission and Miss Gail McCall of
the ladies' division of the Rescue
Mission, London, will be the
speakers.
