Main St. Exeter Smorgasbord planned by ACW The Anglican Church Women of St. Paul's church met at the home of Mrs. Scrabuik, the president. She opened the meeting with worship and was assisted by Mrs. G. A. Anderson. The A.C.W. annual meeting will be held in London in April. Mrs. Scrabuick and Mrs. Taylor will attend as delegates. Mrs. Taylor read a thank you letter from the groups prayer partner, Captain Corey, for the donation he received. Plans were made for the Annual Smorgasbord to be held in May and a bazaar and bake sale in October. Kinettes cheer district shut-ins The Hensall Kinette Club delivered fifty lovely Easter plants to patients in Victoria Hospital, St. Josephs Hospital, London, South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, IIuronview, Queensway Nursing Home, and to shut-ins in the village of Hensall, Sunday. The shut-in day is an annual project of the club. Ann Mickle who is attending Althouse College, London, is spending her vacation with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Albert Shirray who was a patient in St. Josephs Hospital, London, returned home Friday. Charles Mickle, Hamilton, left Sunday by plane for Jamaica where he will spend three days and then fly to the Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, British West Indies, to spend the remainder of his holiday. Mrs. Ken McLean is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Lorne Hay has returned from a holiday spent in St. Petersburg and Treasure Island Beach Florida. Mrs. Dorothy Munroe of Seaforth was a recent visitor with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. & Mrstt -Marten Flood of Burlington visited this week with the latter's mother, Mrs. R. MacLean. Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted Palm Sunday service in Cannel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. The choir under the direction of Mrs. Malcolm Dougall, sang "Open the Gates of the Temple." There will be no Sunday School next Sunday as there will be a Family Service for Easter Sunday at the regular church service. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Simpson of Birmingham, Michigan visited recently with the former's mother Mrs. Lou Simpson and Mrs. F. G. Bonthron. Mrs. Janet MacKinnon is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mrs. William Kyle returned to her home last week from South Huron Hospital, Exeter where she was receiving treatment. Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Broadfoot v of Goderich were recent visitors with the latter's mother, Mrs. R. MacLean. Mrs. Whitehouse, a new member, was presented with an Institute pin and hand book. Mrs. Robert Bell will attend the Leadership Forum in Mitchell. Mrs. J. Sinclair gave the motto "We should all be like the cabbage — work to get a 'head'. The roll call was answered by each member donating a gift of clothing for Children's Aid Society. Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Caldwell, Mrs. Triebner and Mrs. Kinsman sang several Irish numbers. Mrs. Emmerson Coleman commented on the decorating of a cake and tickets were sold proceeds going to the Bunny Bundle. Lynn Alderdice was the lucky winner. A hat parade displayed many new and unusual models. The most original was won by Mrs, Robert Bell; the most unusual, Mrs. Brodie; the prettiest, Mrs. Ken McKay. During the evening prizes were awarded to the ladies who had a whole grapefruit for breakfast; to the lady without dentures; to the one wearing most colorful lingerie; to those with runs in their stockings; to the person with the happiest face; and to women who had kissed their husbands goodby. Members of Amber Rebekah Lodge No. 349 celebrated their 21st anniversary Wednesday evening with Noble Grand, Mrs. Grace Thompson, presiding assisted by the Vice Grand, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor. Guests were present from Goderich Rebekah Lodge, Huronic Lodge, Clinton and Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter. District Deputy President Mrs. Margaret Bowra of District No. 23 was presented by Jr. P.N.G. Mrs. Margaret Ingram. Vice Grand Mrs. Taylor reported for the visiting committee and Mrs. Dorothy Corbett gave the treasurer's report. Arrangements were completed for the Dessert Euchre to be held March 25. Mrs. Margaret Bowra D.D.P. spoke briefly congratulating the members on their 21st birthday. Mrs. J. Taylor of Huronic Lodge expressed best wishes, Mrs. Marjorie Broadfoot Past District Deputy President of district No. 23 and Mrs. Edith Craig of Goderich Lodge also spoke briefly expressing good wishes. Mrs. Nancy Kyle and Mrs. Hazel Corbett also extended Happy Birthday wishes. Car wash slated for United Hi-C Final plans were made Sunday evening by the Hensall United Church Hi-C for their all day car-wash to be held Saturday, April 18 at Dave Kyle's Shell Service Centre. This project will be supervised by Al Corbett, Rick Parker and Doug Mock. Money received from this event will be used in the United Church's "Live Love" campaign. A block of particular Mission Work is to be purchased as the Hi-C share for 1970. Convener for the evening were Jean Cole and Shirley Brintnell. Inspirational thoughts were based on the theme "The Meaning of Easter" A film followed with sound and colour "The Teens." Thames Road neighbors honor departing friends By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Friday, friends and neighbors of Ed Coward and his daughter, Jean gathered in Farquhar Hall for a social evening.Eleventables of euchre were in play. The prizes won were ladies' high, Mrs. Mac Hodgert; ladies' low, Mrs. Herb Bibby; lone hands, Mrs. Barry Miller; men's high, Ray Cottle; men's low, Herb Bibby; lucky chair, Carl Hurne; lucky cup, Brian Mayer. Carl Hume read the address and Robert Mayer presented Jean with a lamp and a table arrangement and her father with a smoking stand and a magazine rack. Jean replied and all joined in singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows". Lunch was served by the committee in charge, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne and Mr. & Mrs. William Lamport. HAPPY DOUBLES' CLUB The March meeting of the Happy Doubles' Club was held Wednesday evening in the church basement. Mrs. Edwin Miller opened the meeting with the call to worship and was assisted by Edwin Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Allan McLennan in an Easter Worship service. Allan McLennan showed moving pictures of Kenya, Mrs. Rohde president took charge of the business. Games were conducted and lunch was served by the committee in charge Mr, & Mrs. Edwin Miller and Mr. & Mrs. Allan McLennan. WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde entertained Sunday in honor of the latter's parents, Mr. and MrS. William Thomson's forty-ninth wedding anniversary. Those attending were Judy Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomson and family, Woodham, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, Alan and Connie and Mr. and Mrs. William Thomson. PERSONALS Marilyn Johns, Elinriville and Dianne Stone left Toronto by plane Sunday to spend the Easter holidays in Jamaica. Sharon Passmore and three other girls are on ,a motor trip to Florida for the Easter holidays. Scot Morgan spent the weekend with Murray Park, Kirkton. Susan Morgan is holidaying this week with her uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Bev De Kay, Hyde Park. Mr. & Mrs. Allan Elston, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Powe and Allan, Centralia, and Mr. & Mrs. Warren Brock, Exeter wereguests with Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Miller during the weekend. Good Friday Service for Grand Bend and Greenway United Churches will be held in Greenway United Church. Mrs. T. Isaac spent a few days last week with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Love in Parkhill.
