Crediton is to lose another
landmark. The chopping mill on
Main St. was sold at auction last
Wednesday. Earl Lippert bought
the land; the building is to be
torn down.
Originally a hotel, the
property was being used, as a
seed store and for the Wickwire
printing press when Sylvester
Wuerth bought it from Sam
Brown in 1917.
Mr. Wuerth equipped it as a
chopping mill and operated it
for thirty years. Subsequent
owners maintained the service,
until lack of business forced its
closing in January.
