Bricklin when he also united in marriage Ruth Mary Morkin and John Joseph Murphy. Mr. and Mrs, Leo Morkin, RR 3 Lucan are the bride's parents and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murphy, Lindsay, Ontario. The wedding soloist was Helen Van Bussel, Hamilton and was accompanied by Betty Morkin on the organ. Michael O'Shea read the scripture lessons. The bride was lovely in a high waisted white velvet gown with a sheer beaded yoke and long sleeves beaded at the wrist. Her long veil fell to a cathedral train and her bouquet was white roses and gardenias. Mary Lou ArnistrOng, Toronto was bridesmaid and Comrade Sid Daley. These went to Ann Revington, Cindy Shumka, Biddulph Public School and Berta Vandenboomen, St. Patrick's Separate School. Miss Revington also received a plaque, which was presented, for annual competition, by the local Legion Branch, upon which has been inscribed her name and that of her school. We are also happy to announce that Miss Revington's essay won the Zone A5 competition and has been forwarded for entry in the District A Competition. MaTMETEZKIENAM ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN The ACW met in Carlisle Hall recently. Mrs. Harvey Hodgins, president conducted the meeting. Rev. R. A. Carson lead a Bible discussion on Hospitality based on the Feeding of the Multitudes. Mrs. J. Murdy read humourous passages from a Senior Citizens Newsletter. Following the business meeting the ladies repaired the hymn books and prayer books. The hostesses were Mrs. Atkinson and Mrs. Haskett. YOUTH MOVEMENT The AYM meeting was held Monday, when plans were made for an Every Person Visitation to present Mission '70, Lent 1970 and the Diocese of Huron Appeal for World Hunger. The Young People are going to call on all the members of the parish and ask that they attend church every Sunday in Lent. wore a long dress in a raspberry color, fashioned in Mary Queen of Scots style. It featured a high neckline and leg of mutton sleeves. She carried a white muff with roses attached. The groom was attended by Peter Shannon, Toronto. The guests were ushered by Patrick Morkin, Vancouver and Ronald Bolton, St. Marys, Keven O'Shea and Jeffery De Brouwer were the servers. After the wedding reception which was held in the Legion Lucan the bridal couple left for a honeymoon in Buffalo and Niagara Falls. The bride's travelling outfit was a kennel Rose dress and hat, black lamb jacket with a White corsage. CHURCH SERVICES A Service of Holy Communion was held Ash Wednesday. Sunday February 15, the Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. Morning Prayer and Nursery are at 11:00 a.m. At 7:30 p.m. Mission '70 begins which will deal with Family Relations. The film `David and Hazel' will be shown, followed by a discussion. On February 6, the film 'Courtship' a provocative look at courting customs around the world will be shown and discussed. On Tuesday, February 17 the film `Nobody Waved Good-bye' which deals with delinquency in an affluent society will be shown and discussed. February 18, the film 'Jamie: the story of a Sibling' which is about sibling rivalry will be viewed and discussed. On February 19, 'The Game' which is about sexual behaviour of today's teenager will be shown. Each evening ample opportunity will be given to all to question, suggest, and learn about what the Christian, through faith and Bible teaching, has to say about these Family situations. London, passed away in Victoria Hospital on Wednesday February 4, 1970 in his 67th year. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Cook, a step daughter Rhea (Mrs. Ken Hardie) of Granton, a stepson Jack Langford of London, two brothers, Earl of Baysville and Austin of Toronto, also seven grandchildren (one deceased) and one great-grandchild. Funeral was from the Murdy Funeral Home, Lucan, where service was conducted by Rev. Susan Seymour of Granton United Church on Friday, February 6, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers were Cliff and Fred Cook, Jim Riddle, Max Bilyea,Hae. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Mc Falls, London were Sunday guests of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Atkinson and Mrs. Bob Coleman. After two and one-half weeks in North Miami, Florida, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Haskett, returned home. While there they were guests of the latter's brother and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Al Armitt. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Abbott were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Arlo Stuckey, Grand Bend. Cement blocks have arrived to commence the foundation for the apartment building being erected on Frank Street. George Young's store has been purchased by Gary and Marlyne McFalls. Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Stanley have returned from a weeketici trip to Terinuda. Call tenders at Biddulph Biddulph Township council decided to advertise for tenders on nine municipal drains at their February meeting. The drains are the following: Neil, Dewar, Mitchell-Grace, Smith-Glavin, Scott, Queen St. and Cook, Chittick, Whelihan and Mitchell. Tenders are also being called for 12,000 cubic yards of gravel for township roads. In other business, council: Appointed Reeve Wilson Hodgins as representative on the Ausable River Conservation Authority and Councillor James Ryan to the Upper Thames. Concurred with a resolution from Westminster Township asking the county school board to levy charges to municipalities twice yearly as opposed to quarterly. Concurred with a resolution from Uxbridge Township opposing proposed government regulations pertaining to gravel pits. Approved a building permit for David Baker, lot 13, N.B., to renovate a house. Ladies invited to next CGIT The Lucan-Clandeboye CGIT meeting was held Tuesday in the auditorium of the United Church Christian Education building. Brenda Herbert, president, chaired the meeting which opened with the CGIT Purpose. Roll call was answered by 20 members. It was decided to ask the Anglican Women, the Women of the United Church, Hi-C, Sigma C, and Explorers to attend the next meeting to hear Mr. Wm. Collarce and the five young people he is bringing with him. These people are going to the Cree Indians at the Reservation at Lake Mistassini. A silver collection will be taken towards this work. A May Pole Tea to be held at the Anglican Church was under discussion and an interesting program for March 31 of Hair styling and care by Mrs. Marion Lewis, was announced. Brenda Hodgins and Janet Smith were in charge of the worship and read the Indian version of the 23rd Psalm. Before Mrs. ,Worthington continued with the study on the Canadian Indians, she led the girls in games. Form Cub pack for young boys A Cub Pack is being started at Holy Trinity Church and is open to all boys aged 8, 9, 10, 11. The meetings will be at 7:00 p.m. Fridays in Carlisle Hall. SATURDAY MOVIES At 10:00 a.m. Saturday the AYM will show movies in the Parish Hall to the children who come. Prizes were won by the following: ladies' high, Mrs. Rose Atkinson; ladies' lone hands, Mrs. C. Neal; men's high, Eric Hodgins; men's lone hands, Bev Hodgins; Box of groceries, Bev Hodgins. The next euchre will be February 18. MEDWAY EUCHRE Medway Euchre Club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carman Hodgins with four tables in play. Prize winners were: ladies' high score, Mrs. E. E. Summers; lone hands, Mrs. Jim Kerr; low score, Mrs. Earl Middleton; men's high score, Cliff McRoberts; lone hands, Austin Hobbs; low score, Earl Middleton. Next euchre is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Middleton, February 23. Explorers bring valentine cards Thirty-seven girls attended the Explorers meeting and brought a hand-made valentine which will be sent to a district nursing home. Book marks were made in the shape of a cross from bread clips. A speech on United Nations was given by Patti Fisher. Kathy Hearn and Linda Hayter each told the story of a hymn to earn their Blue Star. Mrs. Wm. Froats concluded the story of "The Mysterious Mr. Cobb." Teams from Glencoe, Lambeth and Delhi were declared champ ions in the annual bantam hockey tournament held at the Lucan arena, Saturday. Glencoe edged Dorchester 4-3 in. the opener and licierton 2.1 to take the "D" crown, Ilderton .reached the final by outscoring .Lucan 5-3 in the opener. The Lucan youngsters came back to win the consolation title by downing Dorchester 6-3. Lambeth took the "C" title by swamping Mitchell 14-2 and blanking Saltfleet 2-0. In one of the best tournament games in many years, Glencoe edged Exeter 3-2 on shots on goal in overtime after the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in regulation time. Exeter reached the final by blanking Huron East 6-0 and Delhi downed St. Marys 4-1 in their first contest, Exetergoalie Eugene Glavin was named the most valuable player of the tournament for his fine performance in the final against Delhi. COME FROM BEHIND The Exeter club came from behind with two goals in the last period to send the game with The Haliburton 25" COLOR '199" WITH TRADE Delhi into overtinie, Randy outman and Perry Stover were the Exeter marksnien. Against. Huron East, Brad Deters scored twice with Perry Stoyer, Bill Hodge, Kevin Bestard and John Wuerth adding singles. Garry Isaac, Ron Funston and Steve Revington were the Lucan goal scorers in the opening game 5.3 loss to Ilderton. Mike Wraith led the Lucan attack in the consolation final game by bagging two goals. Grain • Feed • Cement Building Supplies Cool 228-6638 Under the capable chairmanship of Comrade Bill Smith, Branch 540, Royal Canadian Legion, Lucan, held a most successful Public Speaking Contest at the Legion Hall, Friday, February 6. There were 110 persons in attendance 45 of whom were adults and 19 contestants speaking on many varied subjects which made a most interesting evening. Johanna Engel, Biddulph Public School was the winner in the lower grades division with Gerrard Mitchell, St. Patrick's Separate School second and Maureen O'Brien and John Mcllhargey both of St. Patrick's Separate School were tied for third. First place for grades seven and eight went to David Latta, Biddulph Public School with Valerie Leitch, Biddulph Public School and David Toonders, St. Patrick's Separate School placing second and third, respectively. In addition to prizes, the first place winners were presented with plaques which were donated by Branch 540, for annual competition. These will be engraved with the name of the winner and the school attended where they will be kept for the ensuing year. Branch 540 would like to take this opportunity to thank the Judges Mrs. D. Park, Mrs. K. Thompson and Mr. M. H. Hodgins for a difficult task very well done. We also thank Mrs. G. Reilly, President of the Legion Auxiliary and her faithful crew for the lunch which followed.
