Hog Grower I, and 2 the new modern
feeding method designed for new
hog grading requirements.
Research shows that high energy feeds are
most efficient. Shur-Gain Hog Grower
1 and 2 are high energy feeds. They produce
the lowest cost per pound of gain and the
leaner carcasses now called for.
New Shur-Gain Hog Grower 1 and 2
(and the proper strain of hogs, to put these
high energy feeds to maximum use) are a
winning combination for the modern
hog producer. Feed Shur-Gain Hog Grower
1 and 2 for better grades and higher profits.
Discuss feeding for better grading with
your local Shur-Gain Dealer.

The chartering of locals under
the new National Farmers'
Union has commenced in
Ontario, and within the next
two months it is the intention of
district directors to have the
majority of former OFU locals
officially chartered under the
by-laws of the NFU.
The first local in Ontario to
be chartered under the new
National Farmers' Union was in
Elgin County, when on January
27, at the St. Thomas Memorial
Centre, the former OFU Local
265 Central Elgin became local
301 of the NFU.
Presentation of the charter,
made by Walter Miller, Vice
President of the National
Farmers' Union, was witnessed
by some 300 members. The
"charter night" was held
following a successful
membership campaign in the
local, resulting in an exceedingly
good sign-up in 5 townships
during the previous two weeks,
Other charter nights being
organized for the near future
include locals at Zurich, St.
Joachim, Wallaceburg, Essex,
Carlsruhe, Selby and Westport,
with many others in the
planning stages for late February
and early March in all districts
across Ontario.
Peter Myers, Director of
Organization for the NFU
Ontario Region, said in Guelph
today, that requests for charter
nights are getting to the point of
outnumbering the days in a
week National officers available
to attend, "It is our objective to
see that at least one of the
elected National officers attend
these meetings so they can
communicate directly with the
membership — explain the
progress the organization is
making, and members in turn
can express any opinions or
desires direct to them" Mr.
Myers said.
Through a restructuring
program, locals of the NFU will
become chartered when certain
goals and organization steps have
been accomplished. One being a
local must consist of a minimum
prescribed number of
membership signed within a
specific boundary area, which
has been defined in advance.
Elected President of Local 301
was Nik Sym, Port Burwell; vice
president, Albert
Vandendriesche, Port Burwell,
and Mrs. Beryl Ferguson, RR 6
St. Thomas, as Secretary.
