Mrs. Gordon Schwalm attended the executive meeting of the London-Hamilton Synodical at the New St. James Presbyterian Church, London. Robert Baker Sr. who recently had the misfortune to fall in his home is recovering from injuries and is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Fred Beer is a patient in Westminster Hospital, London, having been admitted last week. The annual birthday party of Amber Rebekah Lodge scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, was cancelled owing to the weather conditions. The UCW February meeting had to be postponed from February 5 to February 12, due to weather and road conditions. Mr. & Mrs. Walter Spencer spent a few days in Toronto this week. Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Chipchase are enjoying a motor trip to Florida where they will holiday. Mrs. Elsie Case is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and sons and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and Jodi in Scarborough. Tony Kyle, son of Mr. & Mrs. Dave Kyle was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Tuesday, where he underwent surgery for an appendectomy. By MRS. Mr. & Mrs. George Atkinson and family, London, were pests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis, Heather and Michael. Joan Barker, who was recently crowned "Snow Queen' at the Snowmobile Carnival in Strathroy, presided over a snowmobile parade Sunday which was sponsored by the Kinsmen. She presented the prizes to the winners of the races and received a number of beautiful gifts. The ladies of St. Patrick's ACW assisted by several friends had a quilting bee at the home of Mrs. Harry Carroll. New officers for Anglicans The annual meeting of St. Paul's Anglican Church was held Sunday evening. The current business was attended to and new officers were elected as follows: Secretary treasurer, Mrs. K. Scrabuik; Rectors warden, Vic Stan; people's warden, Frank Forrest; lay delegate to Synod, Mrs. A. Couper; substitute lay delegate to Synod, Mrs. Scrabuik; vestry clerk, Mrs. K. Scrabuik, assistant treasurer, Graham Hooper; chairman of sidesrnen, Frank Forrest; Church care, Mrs. F. Forrest. Board of management nominations were as follows: Graham Hooper, R. H. PAULS' ACW St. Paul's ACW meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Annie Reid with the President, Mrs. Scrabuik presiding. Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Scrabuik conducted the devotions. Packing of i bale in conjunction with ACW of Trivitt Memorial Exeter was discussed. Members are asked to answer roll call at the next meeting by a donation of good used clothing, for needy families of northern Saskatchewan. Mrs. Forrest gave a reading the "Perpetual Almanoc". Mrs. Reid presented Mrs. Clark with a gift on the occasion of her 80th birthday. Ladies plan speaking test President Mrs. Vic Stan presided for the February meeting of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and installed Mrs. Mary Fitzpatrick as a new member. Past President, Mrs. Garnet Allan was presented with past president's badge and pin. It was announced a public speaking contest from grades 5,6,7, and 8 will be held at the Hensall Legion Hall Monday, February 16 at 8 p.m. and students from Hensall and Zurich Public Schools will participate. The auxiliary will hold a dance Feb. 21 at the local arena auditorium. Anyone wishing tickets may contact any member of the auxiliary. The group will also sponsor an Easter Basket Draw, with proceeds going to crippled children. The members will canvass for the Red Cross in March, and cater to a bonspiel February 28. Prize winners for the evening were: mystery prize, Mrs. Wm. Smale; guessing, Mrs. Ted Roberts; attendance, Mrs. Jack Simmons. Report winners in euchre play The CP & T Committee of the IOOF Lodge held a successful progressive euchre following the regular meeting Thursday with nine tables playing. Prize winners were: ladies' high score, Mrs. Phil Hem; men's high score, Joe McLellan; ladies' consolation, Mrs. Wm. Kyle; men's consolation, Henry Adkins; lone hands, Mrs. Roy Pepper. During the social hour a basket of fruit was won by Ross Sararus and a' box of candy by Mrs. P. Hem. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Horton, Hensall, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a dinner and reception Friday and an Open House the following day. They were married February 7, 1920 at St. Judes Anglican Church at Kings Cross, London, England. It was while serving with the Canadian Corps Cyclists that Mr. Horton met his wife the former Annie Page. After their wedding they left for Canada March 19, 1920, sailing aboard the S.S. Saxonia and have lived in and around Hensall ever since. Telegrams were received from the Prime Minister of Canada, and from Mr. Robert Stanfield. A framed plaque was received from the Prime Minister and members of the provincial government and letters from Mr. and Mrs. C. S. MacNaughton and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. McKinley were received. Flowers were sent from friends in England. At the morning service of Hensall United Church Rev. Harold F. Currie paid tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Horton who have rendered faithful service to the church and community for over 40 years. He stated their devotion and loyalty to the choir was recognized by all the congregation. 1,o
