CARMEL Many friends from this vicinity motored to Stratford last Sunday to attend the wake of Rt. Rev. Wm. T. Corcoran D.P. who lay in state in St. Joseph's Church and from that church a Concelebrated funeral Mass was held on Tuesday. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, London. Rt. Rev. W. T. TEMPLEMAN STAFFA Mrs. Charles Douglas, Miss Olive Speare and Mrs. Ruby Reed were hostesses for the Public Relations meeting of the Staffa Women's Institute held in the township hall Wednesday, January 28 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker for the afternoon was Miss Judy Friend, Dublin, just recently returned from two years spent in India with Cuso. Miss Friend gave a descriptive and most interesting account of her two years by word and picture. Her first year was spent on the Family Planning Program. India has 550 million people and is about 1/3 the size of Canada. Her second year was spent in a Mission Hospital in Northern India where she was in charge of the operating area. Dr. Whitmore, Seaforth was present to comment on the film and answer any questions, Mrs. Carter Kerslake was hostess for the Cameo painting party Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Jim Tubb, Mitchell, the instructress. There were 15 ladies present to learn the art of shading.
